Last week, our pre-prep students had the fantastic opportunity to showcase their new Bush Kindy to their parents. The afternoons were exciting as families explored the natural learning environment that fosters creativity and adventure. Children demonstrated fun activities, from climbing over the big log to engaging in nature-based playing. Parents were delighted to see their little ones interacting with the great outdoors, cultivating friendships, and developing essential life skills. This vibrant experience highlighted the benefits of outdoor learning and strengthened the bond between our school community and families. It was a memorable afternoon for everyone involved!
Our Year 5 students recently celebrated Queensland's rich history with an unforgettable experience commemorating its separation from New South Wales in 1859. The day was filled with engaging, hands-on activities that allowed them to return to the early colonial period.
Dressed in period costumes, students participated in making delicious damper and even ventured into the world of gold discovery. They enjoyed classic games kids played in the 1800s, adding to the immersive experience.
The day's highlight was savouring their freshly baked damper alongside iconic Aussie treats, including Vegemite, ginger beer, ginger biscuits, Tim Tams, and the beloved Anzac biscuit. This engaging celebration fostered a deeper understanding of our heritage and created lasting memories for our young learners. What a fantastic way to bring history to life!

This week, our Year 4 students embarked on an exciting project that combined creativity and hand-crafted ingenuity! Students designed and built their own arcade game using cardboard boxes and recycled materials during a lively workshop. With guidance from teachers, they brainstormed ideas, painted characters, and crafted gameplay elements. The classroom was transformed into a vibrant arcade where students showcased their games to peers and parents. This unforgettable experience sparked their imagination and fostered teamwork and resourcefulness, proving that creativity knows no bounds when it comes to fun and learning! Among the standout performers were Elijah, Brax, Matthew, and Jaeden, who each secured their spots at the upcoming South Coast Regional Trials. Well done to all the athletes who competed on the day, you should be proud of your efforts.
Last week, we held our first Year 7 Parent Information Night for 2026, welcoming families to our school community. Miss Baldwin and our dedicated teachers provided insights into the transition from primary to high school, discussing the differences in structure, expectations, and the exciting opportunities that await. To offer further support, two current high school students shared their experiences and valuable tips for incoming students, emphasizing the importance of staying organized and participating in extracurricular activities. The evening fostered an engaging dialogue between parents, teachers, and students, ensuring everyone feels prepared and excited for this new chapter in education.
Next term, our Year 8 students are diving into the exciting world of food technology. As part of the curriculum, they’ll be learning essential culinary skills to prepare delicious meals. Recently, the high school teachers joined in on the fun with a hands-on cooking lesson where they learned to make classic burgers and crispy chips. This engaging session showcased their culinary talents and fostered team spirit among our high school staff.
The Primary School soccer teams from King’s made a strong statement at the recent CSSAQ Soccer Tournament, showcasing their development, determination, and team spirit against some of the best school teams in the region.
The girls' team delivered a series of strong performances throughout the day, which earned them a 3rd-place finish.
The boys' team went one step further, fighting their way into the grand final after an impressive run of games. In a closely contested final match, they narrowly went down 2-1 in a hard-fought battle, finishing as runners-up.
Both teams showed clear signs of progress—not just in skill, but in unity and confidence. Their efforts at the CSSAQ Tournament highlighted how far they’ve come and laid a strong foundation for future success.

King’s Touch Teams Shine at Logan Schools Cup
The King’s boys and girls touch football teams put on an impressive display of skill, teamwork, and growth at the recent Logan Schools Cup tournament. Competing against a strong field of schools across the region, the primary and high school squads demonstrated just how far they’ve come this season.
For the primary teams, the tournament marked a significant milestone. With improved structure, communication, and confidence, both the boys and girls teams finished 2nd in their respective pools—a fantastic achievement that reflects their dedication and rapid development.
The high school teams also showed tremendous growth. Facing tough opposition, they rose to the challenge with resilience and maturity. Across the board, players showed sharper game awareness and strong team chemistry, a clear sign that their training and commitment are paying off.

While the final results didn’t always go our way, the growth in teamwork and perseverance truly defined King’s performance at the Logan Schools Cup. With a strong foundation now in place, the future of touch football at King’s looks brighter than ever.
On Wednesday, our Prep to Year 3 students showcased their athletic talents during Sports Day. They participated in various exciting events, including shot put, high jump, javelin with foam arrows, relays, and sprints. The spirit of competition was high, and all students had a fantastic time encouraging one another. Thank you to the P&F for their delicious cookies, poppers, and the popular sausage sizzle that fueled our young athletes. We’d also like to extend our gratitude to SHOT BOX for providing hot coffee to parents. Thanks to Mr Gilmore and Mr Spears for organising the event, our Year 7 and Year 6 student helpers and our dedicated teachers for making the day exceptional!
This week at Ad Astra, our Year 5 students embarked on an exciting hands-on learning experience by building their worm farm! Guided by Mrs. Saul, the students delved into the fascinating world of worms and discovered how these little creatures can contribute to sustainable gardening. Mrs. Saul explained that the worms produce nutrient-rich liquid fertilizer, often called "worm juice," which can nourish plants and enrich the soil. The enthusiastic students discussed innovative ways to utilize the worm juice in their gardens.
Parents, families and friends were delighted by the performances of students at the recent Twilight Studio Concerts. Students learning a musical instrument in private lessons are provided with the opportunity to perform at these concerts to gain valuable performance experience in a small, intimate setting. The younger learners have the chance to appreciate the older, more experienced performers, and the parents can see the growth of their child’s musical development and confidence.
The first concerts this season featured students learning Wind instruments, Upper Strings, Cello, Guitar, drum kit, Piano and Vocals across three venues. The performances were delightful, and the audiences were so very encouraging. Thank you to the students who plucked up the courage to perform, and to our audiences for your valuable support. And a special thank you to the Instrumental Music team of teachers for your professional input in the students’ learning and for providing this opportunity for us all.

On Friday 30, June, our Year 5-8 students participated in an informative safety session hosted by the Logan Police. This engaging workshop provided essential insights into online safety, teaching students to recognise harmful content and safeguard their personal information. The session emphasised the critical need for digital awareness in today’s tech-driven environment. Students were encouraged to think critically about online interactions and to protect themselves digitally. We thank the Logan Police for their valuable initiative in educating our students and equipping them with the tools to navigate online spaces responsibly. Overall, it was an enriching experience that reinforced the importance of safety in our increasingly digital lives.
We look forward to more opportunities that foster responsible online behaviour and keep our students informed and safe!
On Wednesday, 4 June, our school welcomed the 100% Hope choir, who captivated us with their beautiful songs and vibrant dances from Uganda. Their performance entertained us and shared powerful stories of resilience and hope.
The choir members illustrated how the 100% Hope organisation has positively impacted their lives, inspiring us to embrace our journeys with strength and optimism.

Last Friday afternoon at Winter Beyond was nothing short of spectacular! The excitement started with an exhilarating penguin and teabag on the races, with everyone cheering for their favourite competitors. Students unleashed their creativity with snow dough creations, while snowball fights sparked friendly competition among all ages.
The highlight was the joy shared while playing in the fake snow, which brought out the inner child in everyone! To warm up after the fun and games, we gathered for delicious hot chocolate provided by our amazing volunteers.
As we sipped our cocoa, our chapel team shared inspiring lessons centred around the word of Jesus, blending our afternoon of joy with a meaningful reflection on faith. It was a delightful mix of fun and fellowship, reminding us of the importance of community and celebration.
What an unforgettable last day of Term 2! Today was Crazy Hair Day, and our students outdid themselves with incredible and creative hairstyles! It was a great way to end the term, seeing everyone’s unique looks and the effort parents put in to help their kids shine. Our excellent teachers and chaplains, Is there a better word? They are in on the fun, too, showing off their wacky styles and joining in the laughter. Thanks to everyone for making this day so special and raising funds for 100% Hope.
