Vision Service Celebrated at All Campuses
10 August 2022
King's annual Vision Ceremony has always been an important event for our school community and following two years of event restrictions, the special assembly returned on Tuesday, 2 August. Our College Board, King's Church pastors, staff and senior students all assembled to honour our King's Founders, who had a God-given dream in 1980 to build a Christian school for 100 students. Thanks to God's continued provision and wisdom, as well as our Founders' foresight and dedication, King's has grown to become a multi-campus school with over 4,000 students. Mrs Jan Fuller was one of King's faithful founders in attendance and during the ceremony, she lit the 42nd candle which represented 2022 as the 42nd year since King's first opened.
Spring Fair - 10 September 2022
17 August 2022
Spring Fair is just around the corner for our King's Pimpama community. Organisers are busy finalising the event program. This will be a fun day for the whole family. Rides, performing arts, food trucks, bake sale, Under 8s day, petting zoo, trackless train, mini golf, go carts, laser skirmish, inflatables, Oz Tag, marketta and the fun sideshow alley will be happening on various sites around the campus.
The event takes place on Saturday 10 September from 12 noon to 3 pm. Announcements to get your pass for the fun activities, games and rides, will be announced on Compass.
The Bake Sale, organised by the P&F, is requesting families to get behind this event and doing a shout out to all parents and families who would like to provide donations of cupcakes, slices, brownies, cookies, muffins, cakes and more.
Recently, our Pre Prep students have begun their transition to Prep experiences, visiting the Prep classrooms for the first time, and having so much fun with their 'big school' friends and teachers.
A big part of the Pre Prep children's experience at King's Early Learning, is the benefit of these various transition experiences/visits up to Prep, as part of the day-to-day program across Term 3 and Term 4.
Most of the children showed great confidence and readiness for their upcoming transition to Prep in 2023, while some were a little more cautious in their new environment. The Prep students were very eager to support the Pre Prep children to feel comfortable, and have a great time engaging in some new experiences.
These continued visits will help to support all children's understanding of Prep, and develop their confidence and readiness for their new learning environments next year.

100 Days of Prep Celebrated
16 August 2022
Friday 12 August 2022 marked a very significant day, as our Prep students reached that magic mark of being at school for 100days! The Prep students celebrated this milestone with fun activities in their classrooms, including counting to 100, making 100-day paper crowns, imagining and drawing themselves at 100 years old, and threading 100 cheerios to make a necklace. The Prep teachers also got into the fun by dressing up to look 100 years old. The Prep students have accomplished so much in 100days, and we are very proud of each and every child's progress. We can't wait to see what the next 100days will achieve!
Year 6 Cairns Camp - A Trip of a Lifetime
9 August 2022
The moment I stepped into the plane heading to Cairns, I knew I was in for the trip of a lifetime.
Our activities kicked off with a challenging high ropes adventure, where we had to persevere through some tricky balancing, flying fox zooms over crocodile enclosures and narrow suspension bridges.
On the second day of camp, we went to the Great Barrier Reef, where we went snorkelling and cruising on a glass-bottom boat. On the reef, we saw different types of beautiful corals. Some of us even swam next to sea turtles.
At night-time devotions, we focused on eliminating negative labels and defining moments. Sometimes we would get into our mini groups to talk about devotions. This camp was a spectacular camp filled with adventures and wonder. We are so grateful for the time we got to spend with friends, in God’s presence and in nature.

Beyond "Country and Western"
16 August 2022
The Beyond event was recently celebrated with a Country and Western theme, hosted by King's Church. We had students from Prep to Year 3, teachers and staff all come out and join in the festivities, which included face painting, lawn games, pin the tail on the donkey and everyone's favourite, the petting zoo. Our school community all enjoyed a free sausage sizzle sponsored by our P & F, while the lineup for coffee from Wavey Bone Coffee never ceased. However, the highlight of our Beyond this term was having all the teachers come out and lead everyone in the most entertaining 'Country and Western' line dancing! To finish the evening our King's Chaplains and Wellbeing team put on a drama called 'Zacchaeus the Cowboy' presenting to all our students a powerful message on belonging. It was an evening not to be missed, so make sure you are on the lookout for Term 4 Beyond!

Junior Library - A Peaceful and Pleasant Place
16 August 2022
Junior Primary has recently had an upgrade to the Library space with the creation of a dedicated room full of books and fun to be had. It's not uncommon to see our students sitting with Mrs Benson while she models the joy of reading from our ever-growing selection of books catering across genres and age groups. Did we mention that it was fun?... and can be a little hectic at times... Maybe it's because of how popular the library has become with a variety of activities, puzzles, games and construction... an all-round learning space.
Thank you Mrs Benson for making this such a warm, peaceful and enjoyable place for our students to be.

Student Success Celebrated
11 August 2022
Wednesday 10 August saw the High School community come together to recognise the Academic, Cultural and Sporting achievements of our students. It was wonderful to have so many parents able to join us in celebrating the hard work, commitment and diligence of their children.
Our assembly started with a beautiful performance of Saint-Saens - ‘The Swan’ by two of our talented musicians, Janice Park and Zorion Tan. After which over 100 students received their honours awards, in the form of a certificate and a badge they can wear with their formal uniform, from Mr Verreynne. Of particular note, this semester was the 15 Year 9 and 10 students who received silver honours in recognition of their mission trip to St George in April this year. This was the first ‘solo’ mission trip for Pimpama campus students, and we are so proud of their contribution to the St George community.
We look forward to recognising the achievements of even more students at our semester 2 Honour Assembly to be held early in Term 1 2023.

Four King’s students have been successful this year in gaining selection to various State Honours Ensemble Programs (SHEP), which are run across the academic year. Three of these students, Mikaela Hunter, Janine Park and Casey Ang, attended the most recent concerts which were held in June and July at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University over six days of rehearsals and performances.
The State Honours Ensemble Programs are an excellent opportunity for the students to develop their performance skills in a supportive, yet challenging environment, and make new friends from schools across South East Queensland. Congratulations to all of the students who attended these concerts. We are very proud of your dedication and hard work.
The next round of SHEP Queensland concerts will be held from 29 September to 2 October 2022. Students for SHEP Primary School are currently being nominated. These concerts will be held from 27-28 November 2022.
SHEP was a one-of-a-kind experience for me. Although I was hesitant about attending SHEP at the start, I am relieved that I didn’t miss this opportunity that could've left me with regret if I had not participated. On the first day of SHEP, we were given 7-10 music sheets and we went through them one by one on the first day. Then on the second day, we chose 5 of our own choice and rehearsed the chosen pieces over the course of one day. Finally on the third day, also the last of SHEP, we got the opportunity to perform the five pieces in the Queensland Conservatorium. I believe that SHEP was an opportunity for not only me but for everyone involved to experience and enjoy creating music with an orchestra full of people who share the same passion as each other. The only challenge that I felt was that it was awkward at the beginning as there was barely anyone that I knew and there were no familiar faces, but everything got better over time and I even got to make new friends. SHEP was a special experience for me and it was an opportunity for me to realise how fun it was to create and play music with friends. If I got the chance to attend once again, I would love to attend it again.

Shinwoo (Emily) Lee Selected for Australian Honours Ensemble Program
20 July 2022
Shinwoo (Emily) Lee Year 10, has been selected for the prestigious Australian Honours Ensemble Program (AHEP). This is an outstanding and very prestigious achievement for this fine young violist. To gain selection students are required to submit a video audition recording in order to compete for a place in the orchestra from the best students that Queensland has to offer. AHEP will be held at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University and will run from 26 September to 1 October.
Congratulations Emily on this outstanding achievement.

Primary Girl's Basketball Results
16 August 2022
The Primary Inter-school sport kicked off in Week 5, with teams versing our Logan Village campus and Livingstone Christian College. Thankfully, the rain held off for the matches as we would've had some very disappointed students and coaches!
The Northern Gold Coast Associated Schools sports for Semester 2 include Basketball, Touch Football, Bocce, Softball and Cricket. The girl's basketball junior and senior green teams, coached by Kara Thomason, both came home with wins against Livingstone. The senior team won comfortably with 36-0 and the juniors 18-4.
"This was our first game and I was super proud of my girls and how they played," said coach Kara Thomason. "After only having a handful of training sessions it was wonderful to see them out on the court having fun and playing as a team."
The game was held on home turf and kicked off with points scored by King's in the first minute.
King's had a great cheer squad encouraging our girls with one of the matches partly being played during the primary second break. The younger students loved watching their older peers play basketball and I know will be looking forward to when they reach Year 4 to start!

Regional Futsal Titles
10 August 2022
At the beginning of August, King's Pimpama sent four Futsal Teams (three boys and one girl's team) to the Champions of Champions Futsal Title at the Nissan Arena. Our teams qualified for this event by their success in the Gold Coast titles in Term 2, earlier this year. All our teams faced very tough competition, playing schools from all over the region, including the Sunshine Coast. Our girls defended strongly on the first day resulting in an amazing Runners Up place for the Under 11s. Congratulations girls on an amazing result.
Our boys had a tough assignment with each game showing determination to keep applying pressure to their oppositions. Thank you to all the parents and friends that came to support the teams. A special thank you goes to James Mulford for his support and the coaching of the team. We are super proud of all the players that have committed to training and gave their best on the day. All our teams only started training earlier this year and it is a testament to our students and Mr Foster for what they have achieved. This is a great foundation to develop for the future of Futsal at King’s Pimpama.

Gold Coast Short Course Swimming Results
9 August 2022
Parent and Swimming Gold Coast Technical Official, Shandelle Harrison had the following to report: “We had both primary and high school students attend this important event on the swimming calendar. I can report that it’s encouraging to see this mateship outside of the school grounds when our children compete at these events.”
The results from this swim meet were as follows:
Amelia Smit competed in 3 events and totalled 0.89s in personal bests (PBs)
Mystiqrayne Harrison competed in 4 events and totalled 0.20s in PBs
Justine Platon competed in 5 events and totalled 3.83s in PBs
Mason Mower competed in 8 events resulting in 5 x Gold, 2 x Siler, 1 x Bronze and 21.62s in PBs
Elias Flancia competed in 4 events and totalled 5.55s in PBs
Bailey White competed in 2 events and totalled 1.10s in PBs
Bailey Tetonga competed in 9 events resulting in 2 x silver, 1 x bronze and totalling 25.00s in PBs
Harry Simmonds competed in 8 events resulting in 3 x Bronze and totalling 8.47s in PBs
Emmit Morris competed in 4 events resulting in 1 x Silver, 1 x Bronze and totalling 2.76 in PBs
Cooper Morris competed in 2 events and totalling 0.51 in PBs
Congratulations to the students who received medals and to those who have qualified for the Queensland Short Course State Titles, which take place from 13 – 15 August.
Kudos goes to Mason Mower, who competed in various events, often above his age category and gained valuable experience in the water and was crowned an Age Champion at the meet. This is a huge honour and very well deserved.
“If these kids keep it up, we might see them on their way to 2026 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Every King’s Kid did their best, they were up against the best that the Gold Coast had to offer, and boy did they leave it all in the pool,” stated Mrs Harrison.
The King’s family is extremely proud of all our swimmers and the outstanding results they have achieved this year.

Father's Day Gift Fundraiser for P&F
11 August 2022
Father's Day is fast approaching and the King's Pimpama P&F has organised a Father's Day Gift Bag fundraiser. The cost is $6 for a fun, yet handy, gift for the Dads and Granddads in our community. The funds raised will go to the P&F. The cut-off date for orders is 11:59 pm on Friday 26 August. Unfortunately, no late orders can be processed after this date.
The gifts will be handed to the students, who purchase a gift bag, in their classes on Thursday 1 September. Just a reminder that the Father's Day event is taking place at the College on this date from 1:45 to 2:45 pm and we hope that the Dads can join us as we celebrate the Fathers in our lives.
High School Performing Arts students from Years 7 - 10 will be performing in a comedy, murder mystery play on 13 and 14 October in the King's Pimpama Auditorium. The auditorium will be transformed into a theatre restaurant setting. With a cast of 30 students, it will be a show not to be missed but seats are limited. The audience will also be invited to dress up in their favourite 1920's style attire.
Clinic Staff Say Thank You
16 August 2022
The clinic has had some little help lately. Thank you to Max Conder in Year 2 for fixing Nurse Sue's pedal bin. "The pedal broke and I honestly tried to fix it but was unsuccessful'" said Nurse Sue Robertson. Maybe Max's tiny fingers were the key as he fixed it really fast and earned himself some King's coins. What a star!!
Another shout-out goes to Kylie Giggins for heat-pressing names onto the new Epipen kits used in the clinic. These look so much smarter and they're easy to identify in an emergency. The nursing staff are so thankful for her help. Thank you Mrs Giggins.
