The Prep students launched their Term 4 Science Unit with an adventure over to the High School science labs! Many of the students had never been inside a real science lab before, so this was such an exciting treat! The students were greeted by two of our High School Science Teachers who led the children through some very clever experiments! Just like real scientists, the students were invited to predict and observe what happened as they watched a colourful magic trick with acids and bases. The Science Teachers also had the children on the edge of their seats with a chemical reaction!
This has given the children such an exciting start to their new unit! We can't wait to get stuck into more learning.
Things got wild in Year 1 this week with our annual visit to Paradise Country! Students immersed themselves in farm life and learned about the needs of living things. We got to see the newest arrivals on the farm including a 5-day-old baby goat at the nursery and snuggle some cute kangaroos. For those feeling brave enough, there was a snake to pet and a few lucky teachers got to hold a koala! There was a stockman show that taught us all about how farmers use dogs to assist with herding and how they care for the cattle. This trip is always a highlight for year one students because it’s true what they say; animals and kids make the best of friends!
If you missed the 1920s disastrously delightful murder mystery “whodunit” Murder at the Manor, you missed an excellent show! Congratulations to both casts for their outstanding, hilarious and highly entertaining acting skills in the mayhem of putting on a theatre production. Exceptional choreography, patience and directing by the performing arts teachers saw the actors deliver lines and perform slapstick with precise timing. This show was a technical masterpiece of physical comedy that had the audience laughing at their tables. You brought the house down! Thank you to the Industrial Design and Technology Department for the set design and installation as well as the sound team, marketing and other staff for their assistance with the set-up.
And in case you missed it, the plot went like this… it included an unconscious fiancé, a victim who won't play dead, a leading detective, and a bumbling butler (among many others) who battled against technical disturbances, forgotten lines, and falling furniture in a strive to arrive all in one piece at the final curtain call.

In Term 3, the Year 10 Business classes competed in the Business Educators Associations Queensland, Plan Your Own Enterprise Competition. Business planning enables students to see the interconnectedness of business operations, providing an in-depth understanding of business functions within a real-world context.
Groups of 4 developed their own business idea, compiling a detailed business plan that included logos/branding, a legal structure, human resource requirements, marketing plans, competitor analysis, pricing and financial plans, and the prospects for the concept in the future.
We are honoured to announce that our team from the Pimpama campus was a State finalist for the group entries division. The team will now compete at the National Plan Your Own Enterprise Competition.
Congratulations to all involved.

From biodiverse reef adventures, thrilling high ropes courses, lake boat rides among crocodiles, a rainforest walk through the Mossman gorge and a Skyrail line, to army duck rides, visiting the aquarium and zoo, venturing out to Port Douglas and a Dreamtime walk investigating the aboriginals and cultural traditions - This year the 2022 Cairns Camp trip was full of innovative challenges and life lasting memories.
We were extremely blessed to embark on a journey of a lifetime and snorkel in the largest coral reef system in the world. Visiting the Great Barrier Reef was the highlight of my trip as seeing the diverse ecosystem within the reef and its cultural background was truly magical. We got to observe and discover the many wondrous features of the coral and creatures of the sea, whether it was in the water, in the lab observatory or in a glass bottom boat. Through this privileged experience, we not only learnt about the significance of utilising nature’s resources but also how the aboriginal’s survived using spears, boomerangs and natural remedies such as making a body wash using leaves and body paint with rocks.
Chapel at the end of each day was refreshing and renewing as we were touched by the undeniably strong presence of the holy spirit as he moved in each and every one of us, through praise, worship and the remarkable teachers' preaches that were inspirational and heart touching.
The lovely welcoming service we received at the Cairns Colonial Club Resort added to the wonderful camp experience, from their deliciously nutritious meals to the comfortable hotel rooms and refreshing pools: Year 9 Cairns Campers were able to enjoy every bit of this trip and are so grateful to have made such phenomenal memories.
Philippians 2:4 states, “Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of others”, this shows the copious amounts of opportunities we were blessed with where we were able to venture out of our comfort zones and try new things we have never anticipated to fulfil if it wasn't for this spectacular opportunity provided for us. On behalf of our grade, I would like to thank the staff, tour guide and everyone involved for making this trip a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
During the last week of Term, most students (and teachers) wish they were on a large tropical island somewhere, spending their days going up and down the beaches, throwing a line in to catch some dinner, or even taking a relaxing dip. For 10 boys and 4 male teachers, this actually happened for Term 3.
On the first day, our team travelled the four hours up the coast to the barge at Inskip Point, where spirits were high. As we pulled over to let our tires down for the sand, it became suddenly very real, and as we alighted onto the island, Mr Verreynne's lead car wasted no time in accelerating up the sand, headed for our base at Cathedrals campsite. Mr Francis and Mr Miles eventually caught up to him in their cars...
We only had time to establish camp and make dinner, then it was time for devotions, run very well by Mr Coles.
Our first morning was spent at Lake Mackenzie, where we met the girls' Noosa team for some swimming and beach cricket. The goannas at the BBQ lunch site were fearless, with one even trying to taste Rocco's foot! The track inland was great fun for the 4wds. The rest of the day was spent fishing, with Pastor Simon Sweeney firmly establishing himself as the master fisherman, and Jamie Nicholson leading the way for the students.
The next few days were spent fishing, travelling, sightseeing and more fishing into the evening. Mr Miles and Mr Francis both led devotions on those nights, bringing a word of manhood and independence to the young men around the fire. The Holy Spirit was definitely with us in those moments, and more than a few were moved to respond. The last night saw the team join with the group from Reedy Creek campus, who were there at the same time, with Mr Jenkins giving a stirring devotion to everyone.
On the last morning, with lots of memories and more than a few fish caught, we struck camp and headed out early for the long drive home. The boys were sandy, exhausted and thrilled, hungry for next year when they might apply to come back. Special mention to Henry Titman of Year 9, for winning the biggest fish award, and Team Cougar - Mr Verreynne, Simon Sweeney, Jason Gombos, Jamie Nicholson and Elijah Elsayed - for most fish.

Congratulations to Year 7 student, Mystiqrayne Harrison, who knocked 17 seconds off her 200m Backstroke event at the Australian Country Swimming Championships held in Darwin recently to record a Personal Best time.
This competition requires swimmers to qualify and Mystiqrayne qualified for 12 events and made it through to several finals. It was different from any other event she had competed at, mainly due to the weather and environment. Waking up at 4 am to 31 and 33 degrees and by 10 pm it was still extremely hot with temperatures hovering above 35 degrees making competing in an outside pool challenging. Even the pool water was over 30 degrees, something Gold Coast swimmers are not used to when our water temperatures are 26 degrees.
"The heat was really demanding on the swimmers from Southern states, and I had to overcome heat exhaustion so I am happy with my results from this meet," said Mystiqrayne, who was up against some future Olympians who produced exciting times for 12 yr olds at this Meet and featured in the local newspaper.
Mystiqrayne has been working hard on her competitive swimming at Gold Coast and Qld events. She also worked hard in the Northern Territory streamlining her techniques and working the power in her body with her starts and underwater work. At this Australian Country Swimming Championships she got the following PBs:
Well done Mystiqrayne and we wish you continued success along with our other King's Pimpama students who are making their way back into the pools after injuries.
We look forward to celebrating the successes of our students at our upcoming Primary and High School Celebration Night. During this event, we will be presenting our prestigious annual awards in the auditorium, followed by photos and fun on the field! Parents will be notified by email, prior to the event, to let them know if their child will be receiving an award. All students are required to wear their formal uniform to the event. All students are required to wear their formal school uniform, including ties for junior boys. Senior boys also require long pants and blazers. Senior girls are to wear their King's socks and blazers.
During our Primary Celebration, we will have entertainment, including student items, on the top field until 6:00pm. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase.
At the conclusion of the stage performances, high school families are invited to enjoy a more intimate atmosphere outside the HUB and library with live music, snacks, and drinks.
To promote the message of R U OK day, high school and primary students were given the opportunity to create a video showing them having a conversation with a peer to check in on them. Our winners did a fantastic job of showing how to check in on a friend, whilst also being creative in the way they made the video. Thank you to all our participants for your entries and congratulations to our winners!
