View all 2023 Term Dates View Compass CalendarBeyond: The Greatest Adventure was celebrated on Friday, 10 February, hosted by King's Church. Students from Prep to Year 3, teachers and staff joined in on the festivities. They had a great time enjoying face painting, balloon artists, an inflatable obstacle course and fun games, followed by a family chapel service. Thanks to everyone who came out to support our community and make it a memorable event. We can't wait to do it all again next term!
Families and friends of King's Pimpama, we cannot wait to celebrate the creative works of our amazing students at this year's inaugural Easter Fest on 29 March 2023. As well as performances and exhibitions, there will be food trucks, crafts, Easter egg hunts and entertainment. We look forward to seeing you there!
2023 started off strong with our Primary and High School swimming carnivals. It began on Monday 6 February with our Years 4 to 6 swimming carnival, followed by Years 7 to 11 on the Tuesday 7 February. Pimpama Hub Aqautic Centre was our new pool facility and it did not disappoint. Staff and students were dressed up in the House colours displaying their House spirit throughout the day. This was noticed by the quality of the warcrys and support for their swimmers each day.
“From a parents perspective, it was absolutely wonderful to see all of the King’s kids doing their teams proud and giving it a red hot crack in every event. The efforts of the children are to be commended. So many kids were excited at competing 50 metres, in strokes they say, they have never done before, but, in doing it, they got points for their houses. What a great attitude, and well-done kids!” - Shendelle Harrison (King’s Parent)
Congratulations to the age champions, new record holders, and the winning Houses from each carnival.

Hinterland Swimming Team
King’s nominated our biggest Hinterland Representative Team, which saw 27 children compete against other schools in the Hinterland Green region on Monday 13 February. It was a hot day reaching 35 degrees, and many of the staff and parents wished we were entering the water as often as the kids were! The sports department is proud of these students giving their best efforts in pursuit of further swimming representation.

Several of our representative team, along with other King’s kids competed at the Queensland State Sprints Championships at the Chandler Sleeman Aquatic Centre – Brisbane, on 11th and 12th of February. The competition was fierce from all over Queensland, and I should know as I was officiating on pool deck all day on both days as a Swimming Queensland representative. I was able to wish many of our kids (when not fully in the zone) good luck before or congratulate them after their races. They all make me so proud.
King’s kids who represented at the Queensland State Sprints Championships were:
Kayleigh Erasmus | Elias Flancia | Mystiqrayne Harrison |
Cooper Morris | Emmett Morris | Mason Mower |
Justine Platon | Harry Simmonds | Amelia Smith |
Bailey Tetonga | Bailey White |

On Thursday, 2 February, the Year 2 cohort had the exciting opportunity to participate in a Mini Beast incursion hosted by Wild Rangers Wildlife. The incursion was a display of various bugs found in Australia, and it aimed to give the students a hands-on experience with the diverse range of insects that call our country home.
The students were fascinated by the different colours, shapes, and behaviours of the insects, and they listened intently as the presenter shared information about each one.
The presentation was not only a fun and engaging way for the students to learn about insects, but it also helped foster a deeper appreciation for the important role that these creatures play in our ecosystem. By studying insects, the students learned about their biology, anatomy, and the ways in which they contribute to the health of our planet.
In addition, the incursion allowed the students to develop important skills, such as observation, critical thinking, and communication. Through discussions and interactive activities, the students were able to ask questions, make predictions, and share their thoughts and ideas with their classmates.
It was an overall enriching experience for both students and teachers alike.

This week was Library Lovers’ Week, a special week where we celebrate the library and the valuable role it plays in our students’ lives. Both our libraries were decorated for the occasion and there were multiple ways for students to get involved. For our high school students, we offered a ‘blind date with a book’ and for all our students, there were multiple competitions and chances to win awesome prizes. We have loved seeing the response from students, with so many of them visiting the library and getting involved. It is clear that our students love the library and we love them coming in!
