King's has recently launched an innovative new microsite to showcase our ongoing Campus Development projects. The interactive platform offers current and prospective families an opportunity to explore the transformative changes taking place across King’s three campuses, for the benefit of our students. The microsite provides a comprehensive overview of our Master Plan and building program at each campus, with details of our proposed, in-progress and recently completed construction projects. Our goal is to keep our community informed with the latest developments, architectural plans and expected completion timeframes to ensure you are the first to know what is happening at your campus.
Since King’s opened our first Reedy Creek classroom in 1982, until now, we have invested in the continual improvement and growth of our school. Our focus has remained fixed on our founding vision of providing an exceptional educational experience in a Christian-centred environment. The microsite delves deeper into our strategic priorities of innovation, excellence and Christian leadership, and how these are embedded into our development program. As King’s continues to invest in the ongoing improvement of our facilities, students and families can be assured of enjoying the best possible learning experience at King's, both now and in the future.
To explore our exciting new microsite, visit:The King's Golf Day was a sold-out event of 120 players who showcased skill, sportsmanship and a sense of community at this very popular event on the King's calendar. The golfers, who varied in age and skill levels, enjoyed a remarkable day at The Club at Parkwood.
These included $2500 of JB Hifi vouchers and prizes, golf bags, Springbok Food hampers, Calloway sports pack, rounds of golf, mini golf and Topgolf Swing Suite vouchers from The Club at Parkwood that were up for grabs for the winning teams, as well as a Nespresso machine from King's Pimpama P&F and an array of prizes from JB Hifi, Athletes Foot, Spyder Displays, and King's Christian College, made for some very happy golfers who got to take these wonderful prizes home to their families.
The competition was high among many of the King's staff from the various campuses as well as parents and businessmen who have supported the event since its inception three years ago.
The title for the best-dressed team was won once again by team Who's Your Caddy (Kylie Fitzgerald, Allegra and Carter Hayden - Year 12 at Reedy Creek, and Shonel Alloway) who rode onto the greens as Cowboys and Cowgirls and then took home top honours claiming first team prize with an Ambrose score of 44.
The following teams were placed 2nd - 9th place:
2nd - ION Solutions (Jurgen De Jongh, Jonathan Kinderman, Marius De Lange and David Maxfield)
3rd - Gimme Another Ball (Bus Driver Alan Van Der Linde and his two sons, Brad and Josh, and Craig Sonter)
4th - Chopper (Dyllan Budiman, Tony Dowley and Pimpama Maintenance team member, Poy Vay and his son Kingston Vay, who is in Year 6)
5th - Just Tap It In (Brent Miller, Tyson Kingi, Peter Johnson and Mark Millar),
6th - SAFAUS (Raffaele Sparapano, Leonard Fanucci, Craig SMith and Daniel Oostendorp)

8th - The Eagles (Boardmembers, Graheme Thompson, Bill Laver with Anthony Castello and Cameron Richter) 9th - Scripture Union (Sam Sawden, Phil Woods, Jeff Howard and Troy Wilson)

The students researched Australia from the Federation in 1901 all the way through to the present day, identifying how governing laws and events have shaped our Australian society.
For writing, they wrote a biography about an influential leader. Some chose a Prime Minister, others chose someone who made a change at that time.
For technologies, the students created interactive user interfaces, just like what you see in Museums. They used keynote and linked buttons and made animations for people to learn more about their particular decade.
For the culminating event, Year 6 held a LIVE MUSEUM TIMELINE where people visited and physically walked through Australia's history, learning about the events and people who have influenced Australia.
We had a special guest, MP Michael Crandon visit and he was blown away by the standard of work the students produced.
Well done, students!
The Year 4 students focussed on ‘Forces and Motion’ in Term 2, exploring all of Newton’s three laws.
Over the course of the term, they have undergone many experiments that prove one or more of Newton’s Laws in order to bring further understanding.
This resulted in the ‘Caine’s Arcade’ culminating event with flashing lights and pumping music in our auditorium. It was a HUGE success. We had parents visit first, which was absolutely packed, followed by all of the Year 3 classes. Our students loved being able to show off their games and each group were able to give a good account of Newton’s Laws that were evident in their game.
A highlight for the teachers was seeing them work together, problem-solve and continue improving to make their design work and be the best it could be.
"We are all extremely proud of our Year 4 legends," stated Mrs Monique Snowdon, Lead Teacher of the Year 4 Cohort.
Throughout the term, Year 3 became ambassadors for a country in the South Pacific. The students researched the food, shelter, celebrations and culture of their chosen country. To end this fantastic unit they had a Multicultural Day where students came dressed up in their chosen country's traditional clothing. Throughout the day the students enjoyed fun activities including dance, art and games from different cultures. The highlight was having their families come to look at the incredible displays they worked so diligently on. It was wonderful watching all of our students being proud of their work and sharing their new knowledge.
This Term, Year 2 made way for further exploration into God’s beautiful creation through our unit, ‘Why Worry About Water’. This learning expedition led us to the magnificent Hinze Dam, nestled in the sublime surroundings of the Gold Coast Hinterland.
For those unfamiliar, Hinze Dam - located just 15 kilometres South-West of Nerang - is an integral part of our community. It plays a pivotal role in supplying fresh drinking water to 3.2 million people, underlining our theme's relevance to our daily lives.
The excursion kicked off with an exciting walk along the top of the dam wall, where we were greeted with a panoramic vista of the beauty that surrounds the dam and its lake. This spectacle was a striking reminder of nature's grandeur and offered the students an awe-inspiring, real-world context to our water studies.
After enjoying a quick snack amidst this tranquil setting, we ventured downhill to view the Spillway from below. Unfortunately, the water was not flowing into the catchment area but the grandeur of the wall provided the perfect backdrop for our class photos - pictures that will remind us of this exciting day for years to come.
We then put our scientific investigation skills to the test through hands-on experiments involving water purifying and treatment. The students eagerly brainstormed effective strategies to conserve our precious water resources, showcasing their understanding and commitment to sustainable living.
We wrapped up our memorable trip with a peaceful stroll through the lush rainforest and parklands.
As we returned to King's, our minds were buzzing with newfound knowledge and practical ideas on being 'Water-Wise.' This hands-on learning experience truly fortified our understanding of water's role in our world and the critical need for its preservation.

On Monday 12 June, Unleashing Personal Potential (UPP) came to our campus to run their STEP UP program with the Year 9 students.
STEP UP is designed to help students become their best in all aspects of their lives. Through STEP UP, students are enabled to build a solid foundation for their future success.
The process seeks to help students:
develop an understanding of growth mindsets and neuroplasticity by understanding what barriers they have that may be holding them back;
use evidence-based practices for setting goals
develop healthy habits; and,
establish and nurture healthy relationships.
The program was highly interactive, with hands-on activities that kept the students responding and interacting throughout the whole day.
All the Year 10 and 11 students attended the Gold Coast Careers Festival at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre on 1 June as part of their career development program.
There were over 65 exhibitors available for students to talk to about possible future options, ranging from tertiary providers across Southeast Queensland, including universities, Registered Training organisations, and trade schools, as well as emergency service operators like the Queensland police, health and ambulance services and some employers.
Students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of ‘role play' activities, such as being part of a film production team with JMC or virtual combat activities with the Australian Defence Force or just making music! There were also a variety of stage talks and interactive sessions on hand for the students to attend.
Students enthusiastically interacted with the exhibitors to gather information about courses or pathways into their chosen future career choices to assist them with their research into career options. They left the event with bags full of brochures and flyers about their newfound knowledge of their post-school pathways, as well as many ‘freebies’ from pens to sunglasses from the exhibitors. It was a positive experience for the students who left feeling more confident about the options available to them in this ever-changing world of work.

It has been another exciting Semester of growth, development, and success in the King’s Futsal Program. The Program now has expanded to include our first Secondary teams who have been working hard in training and competing at the Gold Coast Titles. King’s entered for the first time 2 x 13 Girls teams, 2 x 13 Boys teams, 1 x 14 Boys team and 1 x u16 Boys team and they performed remarkably well in their first tournament. We have also welcomed a new coach Colin Brealey to the program who has been helping out at morning training and on tournament days. The program also allows our Secondary student leaders the opportunity to manage and coach teams on tournament days and they have been a great help and an asset to the program.

On Tuesday, June 6, our Prep to Year 3 students participated in their annual
Athletics Carnival. It was a beautiful day full of community, excitement, fun and friendly
competition. Our youngest athletes embraced the various track and field activities
with enthusiasm, demonstrating their budding talent and technique. Every student
was encouraged to participate in novelty relays, foam javelin throwing, long jump,
high jump, sprints, and a fun shotput event. Their boundless energy and
determination were on full display as they tackled each event to perform the best
they could for their house.
Amongst the highlights were the 2023 sprint finals and parents' races which were
eagerly participated in by some parents and bravely by others. The success of the
Athletics Carnival was amplified by the overwhelming support from King's family.
parents, relatives, and friends of the students. They could be seen throughout the
day on the sidelines, cheering on their loved ones and creating an atmosphere
brimming with encouragement. Their presence added to the festive vibe of the event,
making it an unforgettable experience for all involved.
The Year 6 helpers were exceptional, showcasing their leadership skills and
demonstrating great support and encouragement to the students. A big thank you to
the Sports department for all their help in setting up and running the event. Thanks
also to all our wonderful teachers and teacher assistants for their help and
participation on the day.
Congratulations to our 2023 Carnival House Champions Tyndale for their
awesome performance and participation. The Prep to Year 3 Athletics Carnival was
a resounding success, marked by fun and fitness, and a strong sense of community.
This special event helped to foster a love for sports, promote teamwork, and instil
King’s Foundational values in our young athletes, and set a strong foundation for their
future athletic endeavours.
On Tuesday 14 May, our Year 3 and 4 students participated in our intra-school basketball competition. Originally, our teams were planning to compete at Coomera Indoor, however, a lack of interest from other schools gave us an opportunity to run our own competition at school. With teams mixed and an emphasis on fun, our students competed in a round-robin style event. Our Most Valuable Players for the day were Grace Doyle and Philp Hannan, taking home a brand new basketball and a certificate
Congratulations to the 2023 Year 10 Boy's team who brought home the bronze medal from the Volleyball Queensland Intermediate Schools Cup held at the end of May.
New kids on the block, this Year 10 Boy's team comprises two Year 10s, five Year 7s, one Year 9 and one Year 8 student. The boys achieved a milestone win and brought home King’s Pimpama’s first medal in representative volleyball when they beat St Benedicts in a hard-fought 2-0 sets match to claim third place. King's sporting culture was also evident at the tournament with the team encouraging one another on the court and from the sideline, which enhanced morale and sportsmanship over the three days.
Coach Glenn Pyne is no stranger to developing a volleyball program from the grassroots level.
"This is the third time I have developed a volleyball program from scratch. Last year was our first tournament where we took eight dedicated young ladies to the Australian School’s Cup, " he said.
"These girls while finishing middle of the pack had no reason to expect to finish anything above the bottom. Having only trained together for 10 weeks and most of them have no volleyball experience at all."
Then came 2023, the girls' success and fun playing volleyball at this level were infectious and King's Pimpama started the program in earnest.
"We no longer have eight girls on a Wednesday morning training regime, instead most Wednesdays we have had over 30 girls and boys training and developing their skills to play at the highest level possible for school volleyball," stated Coach Pyne.
As a result, King's Pimpama sent, not one team but, three teams (a total of 27 students) to the Queensland Volleyball Intermediate (Grades 9 & 10) School’s Cup 3-day Tournament on the Gold Coast. The teams consisted of the following players:
Boys Year 10 (Div 2) | Girls Year 10 (Div 2) | Girls Year 9 (Div 2) |
Jakob Millar | Emily White | Kate Duckworth |
Joshua Simmons | Sarah Phipson | Avae’e Mene |
Roman Kowaliw | Bella-Grace Splatt | Erin Kintakas |
Dominic Kowaliw | Megaen Catolico | Sophie Azzopardi |
Jack Brown | Bella Dugo | Ami Jung |

Anthony Caruso | Naomi Sweeney | Khara Getigan |
Jaskaran Dahliwal | Janice Park | |

With very little experience in their ranks, these teams presumably should have finished at the bottom. However, their dedication to training, their incredible team spirit and their love for the game showed what was possible.
The Year 10 girls played some amazing volleyball and were unlucky to be relegated to the bottom of their draws at the crossover, but they finished top of the crossovers and 5th overall in their division with a very close 26-24; 26-24 win over Somerset College for the “Battle of the Coast” game.
The Year 9 girls had an amazing start to the tournament winning both of their first two games before meeting the eventual gold medalist in their third game. This placed the girls at the top of the crossover draw playing the three best teams in their division. One of those teams was our sister school from Reedy Creek; this game was probably the most fun as many of the girls knew each other and the Reedy Creek coach was one of Coach Pyne's ex-volleyball players from his time at Reedy Creek. The girls excelled in their play and although failing to achieve a medal in their Bronze medal match against Indooroopilly SHS, they came away with some incredible plays and skills they did not have before the tournament.
All is bright for the future of volleyball at King’s Pimpama and we would encourage students who might be interested in playing to come and talk to Coach Pyne. In addition, more coaches will be required as the number of teams continues to grow at our campus. Next term, King's Pimpama expects to have at least two teams going to the Senior School’s Cup (Years 10 and 11). We are also hoping for a boy's and a girl's team for Junior School’s Cup (Years 7 and 8) in October.
Coach Pyne would like to thank parent, Mr Damien Kowaliw, and staff members, Mr Andrew Pickering, and Mrs Olivia Bruneau for their tireless effort over the three days of this tournament in coaching and managing the teams.

Click here to purchase tickets to Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryDebating at Pimpama has seen our biggest semester yet with over one hundred students participating from the three campuses at our recent competition night. The topic for this term’s debate “Students should be limited to thirty minutes of screen time”, was fiercely debated from both sides. For most students, the additional challenge of siding with a topic they personally contested was a welcomed challenge. Even though the night may have started with nerves and trepidation, all of these feelings were quelled by the end of the first round. Students enjoyed the thrill of competing against their peers and showed tremendous growth as the night reached its end.
Congratulations to the King's Pimpama Chess Players who participated in the Interschool Chess Tournament held on 6 June 2023. Well done to the players who received a medal.
