Friday, July 29, marked an important milestone day for our Prep students as they celebrated 100 DAYS IN PREP. The special occasion was a chance to recognise all that our youngest King’s kids have achieved at school so far. Prep is characterised by new faces, new places and new experiences, and our students have all embraced their first 100 days with curiosity and courage. From meeting our larger-than-life King’s lion on Day One to learning to read, write, count, make friends, and much more, these students have developed in so many ways.
"The Prep teachers dressed in bright colours for 100 days of Prep and our students enjoyed a 'neon party' in the auditorium in the afternoon before they departed the day with a bright coloured balloon that reminds them just how proud we are of them for their first 100 days of school," said Mrs Michele Wiehe, Prep to Year 2 Coordinator.
The Year 11 camp was a great experience for our cohort. We participated in a variety of activities such as The Giant Swing, Rock Climbing and Team Challenges which helped us boost our confidence and try new skills whilst working within a team setting.
"The survival challenges gave us the opportunity to connect with each other as well as have a house rivalry to be the ultimate survivor tribe, " stated Mrs Holly Collety, Head of Newton House and Secondary Teacher.
"This was a great experience to help us bond as a grade as well as a team whilst trying something new, fun and exciting. The late-night devotions had a magical atmosphere where we could really connect with God as well as each other and really feel his presence among us."
On Monday 12 June, Unleashing Personal Potential (UPP) came to our campus to run their STEP UP program with the Year 9 students.
STEP UP is designed to help students become their best in all aspects of their lives. Through STEP UP, students are enabled to build a solid foundation for their future success.
The process seeks to help students:
develop an understanding of growth mindsets and neuroplasticity by understanding what barriers they have that may be holding them back;
use evidence-based practices for setting goals
develop healthy habits; and,
establish and nurture healthy relationships.
The program was highly interactive, with hands-on activities that kept the students responding and interacting throughout the whole day.

On Monday 31 July and Tuesday 1 August, King’s sent 38 students to compete in our Hinterland Athletics event at Somerset College. The students have been training since Term 2 in the morning and afternoon sessions run by our Coaches, Mr Taylor and Cooper Miller. Despite the competition from the other Colleges around the region, we had twelve students finish first or second in their event overall, which should send them through to the regional trials.

Our four teams that qualified for the Southern Queensland Champion of Champions Futsal tournament played tremendously well and achieved some fantastic results.
The Under 9 boys team fought hard throughout the tournament finishing top of their group, securing a place in the Grand Final with a golden goal win in the Semi-Finals. The team finished runners-up at the end and had a wonderful tournament.
The Under 10 boys finished equal second in their group and just missed out on making the Semi-Finals on goal difference.
The Under 11 boys also had a wonderful tournament topping their group but unfortunately went down in a narrow defeat in the Quarter Final.
The Under 11 girls played some fantastic Futsal finishing third in a gruelling six-game group stage before being beaten in the Semi-Final between 2nd and 3rd.
A big thank you to Mr Wilmot and Mr Van Breeman for helping out with coaching throughout the tournament. Fantastic results for Kings Futsal at Pimpama being that we are only in our second year since the program commenced.

Basketball Season One is done! We wish the 10 teams who will be representing King's Pimpama in season two all the very best success and sportsmanship for the forthcoming season.
King’s Pimpama High School Chess players participated in the Gold Coast secondary chess tournament at The Southport School on 9 August 2023. There were 18 students that competed in the event which brought together over 300 students from schools across the Gold Coast, creating an atmosphere of intense competition.
In the D division, Zorion Tan's 5/7 score secured a commendable 5th place, showcasing his strategic prowess. Meanwhile, Bailey White's and Deni Hamade's performances, both at 5/7 and 4.5/7 respectively, highlighted their dedication and skill.
The C division also witnessed its own share of triumphs, with Isaac Lee claiming 29th place with a score of 4/7.
As we reflect on the battles of the board, we're reminded that success in chess involves not only moves on the board but also the lessons learned through competition.
Chess Coach, Daniel LapitaI, is looking forward to what Term 4 will bring!
