At King’s, we have an exceptional community of staff, students and family members, who all work together to foster a sense of belonging in our school. As many in our community have experienced, a short walk around our campus is all it takes to encounter the vibrant, Christ-filled atmosphere and people of the King’s family.
This atmosphere is not created without intention - it takes careful planning, prayer and participation from every member of our community. With this in mind, we are excited to introduce our Student Culture Card to you, our valued parent community.
Why a Culture Card?
Research shows that when children understand and know the values of their school, they feel connected and accepted within their school community. Through this, students are more likely to experience lower levels of stress, anxiety, and loneliness; and are more likely to participate in social activities and community events. This in turn contributes to personal growth, but also adds vibrancy to our school culture by fostering a sense of community in and out of the classroom.
The King’s student Culture Card contains a summary of who we are at King's, our values, mission, and God’s wonderful pathway to a successful future. By providing this card to each student, we aim to make our school values and core principles clear and visible to students, empowering them to use the language of Belonging, Believing and Becoming in their journey as Christian Leaders for Future Generations.
Over the past few weeks, our students have been exploring these themes in Chapels, devotions and classroom lessons. Please ask your child about the card, and encourage them to value it and keep it safe.
We look forward to using this resource to further our partnership with your family as we work together to ensure King’s is a place where we can all flourish in God’s purpose for our lives.
King's Pimpama and the Gold Coast City Council are officially launching the Active School Travel (AST) Initiative on Tuesday, 5 March, from 7:45 to 8:30 am, this event marks a significant step towards promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing traffic congestion around our school.
The event will start at the Gainsborough Greens Sports Ovals situated on the corner of Kosciuszko and Mount Royal Streets and we encourage everyone participating to meet us at this location. Staff and Chaplains will be assisting on the way to school via Great Sandy Circuit.
The Active School Travel Initiative encourages students to embrace active modes of transportation such as walking, cycling, scootering, or catching the bus to school. By doing so, we not only promote physical activity but also contribute to creating a safer and more sustainable environment for everyone.
Come and meet the mascot for the AST program, Zero the Hero - the cockatoo, who will be at the middle back gate to say hello to everyone entering the school.
To incentivise and recognise our students' commitment to active travel, we will be awarding prizes to those who consistently choose active modes of transportation. A raffle will take place at the launch event around 8:30 am at the forecourt area for everyone involved. This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity to kick-start our initiative and generate excitement among our students.
During the Breakfast Launch, the Active School Travel team will have a coffee van set up at Gainsborough Greens Sports ovals for parents to enjoy to enjoy a coffee as they engage in discussions about promoting healthier lifestyles and reducing traffic congestion around our school. The first 50 parents will get a free coffee. Students will received a free drink, muesli bar and piece of fruit for participating in the initiative.
We will be introducing Choose Active Tuesdays, during which students will have the opportunity to participate in tracking their active travel choices through a simple show of hands during morning roll call. This data collection will enable us to monitor our progress and celebrate the efforts of our students in choosing active transportation methods.
Together, let's work towards creating a healthier, greener, and more vibrant school community. We look forward to seeing you at the Active School Travel Launch on Tuesday, 5 March 2024.

Middle School students continue to thrive academically and in their various giftings at King’s Pimpama. We were thrilled to award 127 students in Years 8 – 10 with 150 honours at the Middle School Honours Assembly on 27 February. The Honours Awards were presented to students who excelled in their Semester 2, 2023 reports or performed outstandingly in school and community based activities. Congratulations to all of our students on their wonderful achievements.
“Passion is contagious. When you approach your studies with passion, you inspire those around you to do the same. You create an environment where enthusiasm flourishes, where ideas are shared freely, and where everyone is motivated to strive for their best. This is truly what we desire not just for those receiving an award here today, but for all of the students in our high school,” stated Mrs Pepeita Hamilton, Head of Secondary, King’s Pimpama
We also recognised Middle School students for College Enhancement, recognising those who have been committed to serving their community both in and out of school and Cultural Achievements for students who demonstrated outstanding involvement in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
“Education and learning are not confined to the four walls of a classroom or the pages of a textbook. It is a lifelong pursuit that extends far beyond graduation and enriches every aspect of our lives, and it enables us to fulfil our God-given potential,” said Mrs Hamilton.
High School Chess is off to a great start!
With a whopping 46 student signups for High School Chess in Term 1 alone, the Chess Team here at Pimpama is excited to see the sport grow. Each and every one of these students, ranging from Year 7-12, have proved a fighting spirit to climb during the tournament this term. Some familiar names from last year are being given a run for their money as a new face, Dominic Kowaliw, is leading the tournament with 6/7. Tied with Dominic is none other than Mr Humber, proving chess is all about experience and patience. Steven Xu and Ulrich Becker are tied for second with 5.5/7, with Emilio Zengoski and Brandon Tan tied for third on 5/7. Six students are tied for the podium spots, but only three will come out on top. The showdown for the first tournament of Term 1 is taking place on 29 February, and we can’t wait for some surprises, upsets, and crushing games of chess. Best of luck to everyone striving for the top positions, and amazing work to our other students who are learning lots and having fun.

Entrepeneur of KoKocino babyccino cups and parent of King's Pimpama, Jill Tiru, presented Anneliese Hardman (Year 8) with one of two winning designs in its final product form at a recent assembly. Absent from the assembly and photo was Kirra Morrell (Year 9) whose winning design was also also transferred onto one of KoKocino's products. (See the girl's winning designs in the photos below). The girls entered the Cup of Kindness competition which was part of Creative By Design week 2023.
"We are trying to promote kindness through our cups. Our main ethos is - Cino cups that are kind to self, others and the planet. They are BPA and PVC free and come with a pop-it keyring toy inside," said Mrs Jill Tiru.
She also stated that these new cup designs should be available for sale on the KoKocino website early in April.
As these cups make their way into the hands of consumers, they serve as a reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness – like choosing eco-friendly products – can make a difference. Let's raise a cup to kindness, sustainability, and the bright future ahead for all of our King's Pimpama students!
For more information about KoKocino, visit their website:The National Rugby League (NRL) visited our campus to deliver a presentation to our Year 5 students. The presentation was part of the League Stars inspire program in which this year’s key message was on the topic “Simply your Best”. The NRL staff encouraged our students using the platform of rugby league to educate and inspire students to simply do their best in all aspects of life and the positive impact this can have on them and the teams they are part of including their class, school, family, activity group or sporting team.
Amongst those in attendance with the NRL game development staff were two current Gold Coast Titans players, New Zealand Kiwi Fern representative, Hailee-Jay Ormom and Australian Jillaroo player, Jamie Chapman. The players shared their personal journeys, emphasising the importance of giving one’s best effort in various aspects of life. The interactive nature of the presentation allowed students to connect with players, making the message even more impactful and relatable.
As our students absorbed the lessons, the “Simply Your Best” mantra resonated with them and we know will motivate them to take pride in their efforts and strive for greatness.
We thank the NRL for bringing this experience to our students and we wish the Gold Coast Titans a successful year. Go Titans!
Year 2 students had an unforgettable encounter as they immersed on a learning experience to discover a menagerie of 'Mini Beasts'. By instilling a sense of wonder and respect for mini beasts, we empower our students to become stewards of the environment and advocates for the protection of all living creatures. From snails and stick insects to a giant burrowing cockroach, blue scorpion, tarantula and centipede, these pint-sized creatures captivated our young minds with their unique features and behaviours.
As part of the adventure, the students had the opportunity to meet a special vertebrate guest with a taste for bugs. With hands-on learning, the students witnessed the fascinating interactions between vertebrates and mini beasts, highlighting the interconnectedness of life within our ecosystem.
Incursions by Wild Rangers create magical moments for our young learners to cherish and give them the first steps to protect the wonders of our natural world. Understanding and safeguarding the diversity of life, no matter how small, is essential for the health and sustainability of our planet.
After a brief closure due to flooding, Noah's Ark was excited to welcome back families and little learners on Monday, 26th February. The centre has undergone minor yet impactful improvements, setting the stage for an even more nurturing and stimulating educational environment.
Rejuvenated Learning Spaces
The temporary closure provided an opportunity for Noah's Ark to enhance its facilities, focusing on creating spaces that contribute to the holistic development of the children. These enhancements are geared towards fostering a love for learning and exploration.
Staff's Dedication Beyond the Centre
While our doors were closed, our devoted staff went above and beyond, extending their expertise to assist across our campuses and in the Primary School here at Pimpama. This collaborative effort not only reinforces the strength of our educational community but also ensures a seamless transition as we reopen our doors.
Staying Ahead with Professional Development
During the closure, our educators dedicated time to stay current with the latest educational practices. Engaging in a variety of Professional Development courses, they have equipped themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to provide cutting-edge education for your children. This commitment to ongoing learning aligns with our mission to provide the best possible educational experience.
Thrilled to Reunite with Families
Noah's Ark is not just a learning centre; it's a vibrant community, and we are overjoyed to have our families and children back. Their absence has been deeply felt, and we look forward to resuming the laughter, curiosity, and growth that make Noah's Ark truly special.
Looking Ahead
As we reopen, our focus remains on creating an environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and a lifelong love for learning. The enhancements made during this time reflect our dedication to providing the best possible educational experience for your little ones.

Chess is not just a game; it's an opportunity for young minds to develop critical thinking skills, strategic planning, and resilience.
