King's Primary and Noah's Ark students were very excited to invite our amazing mums to school for our annual Mother's Day Celebration events. On Friday, 12 May, our very important guests spent time in class with their children enjoying some creative and energetic activities together and it was heartwarming to see our classrooms brimming with fun and laughter. Some mums enjoyed embellishing crowns, crafting paper flowers, playing board games or reading books with their child, while others were pampered with hand and back massages or nail painting. To get hearts racing, there were even dance competitions and campus scavenger hunts in the older year levels. Every mum was gifted with a beautiful card, thoughtfully hand-written by their child, and a Mother's Day cookie, as a small gesture of thanks for our much-loved mums. On behalf of our College, we want to honour and appreciate our incredible community of King's mums who selflessly love and support their children in countless ways throughout the year. We hope you had as much fun as we did and we wish you a love-filled Mother's Day on Sunday!
View Primary Mother's Day Photo Album View Noah's Ark Mother's Day Photo AlbumOur amazing P&F Committee brought back our beloved Mother's Day stall in 2023 for the first time since Covid. Rather than offering a range of smaller, cheap items at the stall, they created two quality Mother's Day gift options this year including a pamper pack and luxury pack. All Primary classes attended the stall on Wednesday, 10 May, to collect or buy their Mother's Day packs. Students were delighted to be able to personalise their mum's gift by choosing from a handful of different design options for either pack.
King's are thrilled to share some exhilarating news with our College community. Over the course of two action-packed days, these girls showcased their exceptional skill and determination, facing off against some of the most formidable youth rugby teams from around the globe. With their sheer tenacity and unwavering focus, they left no doubt about their status as true champions. From the very first whistle, our girls dominated the pool rounds, leaving spectators in awe as they racked up points against each of their opponents. However, it was the semi-final game that truly tested the skill of our team. Locked in a gripping battle against a worthy opponent, both sides pushed themselves to the limits in pursuit of victory. In the face of immense pressure, our girls remained resolute, emerging triumphant and securing their spot in the championship game against the New Zealand team from Manukura School.
The selection of our team as the Australian representative for the SANIX World Youth Rugby Championships is a well-deserved honour, acknowledging their exceptional performances in recent years. Their unwavering commitment to the sport have culminated in this outstanding achievement that speaks volumes about their talent and hard work, and serves as an inspiration to aspiring young athletes within our community. We also extend our thanks to the coaching staff, parents, and supporters who have been undoubtedly played a significant role in the team's success.
Once again, congratulations to our extraordinary team - we are excited to witness your continued success in future sporting endeavours.
The vibrant colours of India's flag filled King's Primary campus on Friday, 5 May, as our Primary community wore orange, green and white and rallied together to raise funds for our friends in India. The LIFE Program dedicates a day each term to fundraising for a charity, to remind us to look beyond ourselves and help those less fortunate. This valuable program is just one of the ways we provide learning moments through serving - giving students the chance to authentically practise humility and Christian leadership. Our incredible LIFE team are an amazing group of students and staff who continually go above and beyond to serve others, and once again they cheerfully served their peers at our BBQ fundraiser.
This term's Primary fundraiser supported Manna Ministries in India - a Christian organisation bringing hope and a brighter future to poor and at-risk children through their orphanages, childcare programs and schools. Thanks to our College community for enthusiastically taking part in our Colours of India day and demonstrating such generosity for Manna Ministries as we show Jesus' love to those in need.
Our Year 1 students put on their 'lab coats' this week as part of a fun science-based incursion with the enthusiastic team from Street Science. The iZone buzzed with the sound of the budding young scientists, who transformed dried PVA glue particles into bouncy balls by simply adding water. This hands-on activity aligned to their current topic on matter changing state and it was exciting to see the students' amazement as the particles transformed from solid to liquid in front of them. Later in the incursion, they observed some science displays with colourful chemical reactions and experienced other exciting ways we can see God's glory through the lens of science in our daily lives.
Year 12 STEM Ambassadors - Lachlan Chang, Ern Wong, Noah Law, Christin Lin, Cynthia Lin, Cern Wong and Hayate Takahashi planned and ran a fun social event for high schoolers with a shared love of learning. Our first-ever student-run STEM quiz night was a resounding success, full of enthusiasm, fun and a healthy sense of competition!
High School students from all year levels signed up to compete for quiz rounds relating to Science, Technology and Mathematics, followed by an engineering challenge to build the tallest spaghetti tower. Congratulations to our knowledgeable winners, who received gift vouchers for Robina Town Centre from the Science Department, with runners-up sharing boxes of lollies.

The Science Department would like to congratulate and thank our honorary department members - the Year 12 STEM ambassadors - for their service as positive academic role models and their willingness to create a fantastic experience for their fellow students.
On Tuesday and Wednesday of Week 3, our High School teachers eagerly participated in Parent Teacher Conferences. Teachers enjoy these evenings as it gives them a chance to discuss students’ learning progress and also learn a little more about their students' family, co-curricular interests, goals and life outside of school. It is very important to set time aside to chat with teachers about your child’s strengths and areas for improvement. We hope that these conferences gave you a better understanding of your child’s recent academic performance and that you found the experience to be informative, productive and worthwhile.
If you were not able to secure an interview with a specific teacher or were unable to book during the two designated evenings, there is another opportunity to meet early in Term 3. Teachers are also available for contact over email. Your feedback is always valuable and helps us to tailor our teaching approach to meet the needs of each student. It would be very helpful if you would complete the Parent Teacher Conferences survey on Compass.
Complete Parent Teacher Conference SURVEYTerm 2 Goal Setting
Now that Term 2 is well underway and some assessment marks have been released in each subject area, it is a perfect time for your child and/or your family to set goals for each subject. While some students might be aiming for an A, others might be aiming to increase from a B- to a B or aiming to increase the Learning Habit of Seeks and Acts on Feedback.
We would also encourage you to consult your child’s Assessment Schedule regularly so that you can gauge the level of time your child should be spending on their assessment items. It might be handy to keep the schedule in a prominent place in your child’s room or on the fridge, so on those evenings where there is no set homework, students can be working towards the completion of assessments. Assessment schedules are available via the Compass app following these steps:
Finally, it is very important that your child attends school each day as consistent attendance is always linked with academic attainment. Lessons and Compass materials are designed sequentially, so missing one lesson can make it difficult for the student and the class to make progress. If your child is sick and has to be off school, the expectation is that they catch up on the classwork and homework set by their teachers, as falling behind can knock on the next section of work. This information is posted onto their subject Compass pages.
Your involvement in your child’s education is crucial to their success. We look forward to continuing to work together to help your child reach their full potential.
Year 10 Psychology students have been busy participating in the Australian Brain Bee Challenge - a quiz competition all about the human brain, facilitated by the online learning platform 'Education Perfect.' In order to prepare for the competition, Year 10 students from around Australia have been studying the human brain and how it works. The two top students from each school may be selected to participate in the next round of the competition, provided they fall within the top 20% of entrants nationally. Congratulations to King's students, Em Peardon and Jess Turbill, who have been selected to advance to Round Two of this exciting competition. We look forward to seeing them represent our College as the Challenge progresses.
Year 9 Digital Technologies classes were tasked with designing an eBike station in Minecraft that incorporates sustainable elements. The station was required to be functional, aesthetically pleasing, and designed to encourage the use of eBikes as a sustainable mode of transportation. Congratulations to Year 9 students, Esther Hawkey, Cameron Broadrick and Abbey Muston for their winning design.
A number of King’s outstanding athletes showcased their exceptional athletic abilities at the National Athletics Competition held at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre (QSAC) in mid-April. Our athletes competed against the country's finest, leaving a lasting impression with their remarkable achievements, with particular mentions to Nylah Goble-Lote for collecting two Gold medals for Hammer and Shot Put, Alyssa McDonald – Silver in 200m hurdles, Charlee Vincent – Silver - in the 100m and Gold in the 4x100m, and Joseph Lethlean – Silver in the 2000m Steeple event.
The student's participation in the prestigious event followed their successful qualification through the State Club championships, where they displayed outstanding skills and determination. Our athletes' stellar performances in the regional qualifiers paved the way for their participation in the highly- anticipated national event.
As the National Athletics Competition concluded, the focus is now shifting towards the upcoming School Athletics season, later this term. With their impressive accomplishments at the national level, our athletes are expected to carry their momentum forward into their next competitions. Together we celebrate the accomplishments of all of our athletes and eagerly await an exciting School Athletics season ahead.
On May 3, 2023, All Saints Anglican School hosted the annual APS Cross Country event and King's emerged victorious in the High School division for the first time in history. This win marks the first time a school other than All Saints or Emmanuel has won the trophy since 1996. The event was highly competitive, with several schools from the APS vying for the top spot. However, the King's team demonstrated remarkable skill, endurance, and perseverance, which ultimately secured their victory. In addition to the High School win, the King's Primary team also put up an impressive performance in the event. The junior team came second, meeting their best performance in that category. The win is a testament to King's commitment to athletics and dedication to developing students' talents in various domains. A massive congratulations to our athletes, King's Athletics Coordinator, Mrs Leana Joyce, and Cross Country Coaches Mr Mal Muir and Sayla.

Year 10 KTTC students Jack Lucas and Cayden Carrick put their tradesman and service skills to the test by tilling the splashback in the new KTTC staff kitchen. The boys were responsible for all aspects of the install, from measuring and marking, mixing glue, laying the tiles and checking levels, grouting, caulking and the final clean. KTTC staff were very impressed by their handiwork and appreciative of the fresh new look. Well done and thanks Jack and Cayden!
On Saturday, 11 May, King's Class of 2014 gathered at Surfer’s Pavilion to celebrate their 10-year reunion. Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Nerang River, the event provided the perfect opportunity for former classmates to share stories and reminisce about their school days. Over 70 guests attended and were all eager to reconnect with past teachers and old friends. It was wonderful to see our 2014 School Captains and several KTTC alumni in attendance. The reunion was filled with lively chatter, laughter, and even a few tears as the group relived memories, renewed friendships, and appreciated the importance of staying connected. Events like this highlight the strong community spirit at our College and the enduring bonds formed by our students. Congratulations to King's Class of 2014 on a successful reunion—we look forward to many more in the future!
Star Wars Day (May the Fourth) was so popular in our King's libraries that we celebrated it all week and gave students many opportunities to become involved in different activities and competitions. The highlight was our Jedi Warriors on May 4th. Star Wars books are always very popular and our online Star Wars quiz was the most entered competition this year. We love engaging our students in literature, through a variety of fun activities. Congratulations to all our prize winners!
