View all 2024 & 2025 Term Dates View Compass CalendarWe are delighted to share our latest message from our Deputy Principal, Mr Taylor, entitled Putting Faith First. His message intertwines the excitement of the recent 2024 Paris Olympics with the profound legacy of faith and perseverance that has been exemplified by Olympic athletes past and present. Reflecting on the inspiring performances at this year’s games, Mr Taylor draws a compelling parallel with the 1924 Paris Olympics and the remarkable story of Eric Liddell, whose steadfast Christian faith and commitment to his values left an indelible mark on Olympic history. Through these stories, Damien encourages our community to embrace these values of perseverance, discipline, and unwavering faith, as we run the race God has uniquely called us to.
From our Deputy PrincipalHigh School Jersey Day
On Thursday, 1 August, our High School turned into a vibrant arena of sports jerseys as students united for a cause during our Term 3 Jersey Day fundraiser. The event raised substantial funds for Teen Challenge QLD, which has been a local life-changing charity since 1971. This remarkable organisation has provided a beacon of hope, helping thousands of young people conquer addiction, abuse, and other life-controlling challenges. Teen Challenge's holistic approach doesn't just address addiction; it rebuilds self-esteem, work ethic, spiritual awareness, and relationships. Students, dressed in their favourite sports team jerseys, kicked goals both on and off the field and supported this cause through a spirited LIFE Canteen lunchtime fundraiser.
Primary School Jersey Day
The following day, our Primary School took the baton and ran with it, hosting another colourful and energetic sports day for their LIFE fundraiser. The playground was a dazzling display of sports jerseys, with students representing teams from across States and countries. Their mission was to rally as many funds as possible to support Rescue Mission for Children. Since 1994, this charity has been dedicated to the social and economic upliftment of the Akha Hill tribe group and its children, while also extending a helping hand to any vulnerable Hill tribe children. The LIFE Canteen was a hit once again, and our students' enthusiasm turned the fundraiser into a triumphant success.
Thanks, King's families, for continuing to make a difference through your generosity!
King's youngest students enjoyed a morning of unforgettable fun during our Noah's Ark Sports Day. This annual event is a mini-introduction to King’s Carnival culture before our Pre Preps enjoy the bigger Carnival atmosphere next year in Prep, and beyond. The exciting morning saw our little athletes engage in four rotations of different sports as they represented their House groups. Their boundless display of energy and enthusiasm was heartwarming to watch, and parents enjoyed cheering from the sidelines and connecting with other families from our King’s community. One of the highlights of the event was the participation of our parents and teachers in the bin racing challenge. Another was seeing our Primary School student leaders showing care for their younger peers as they helped them through the obstacles. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the families who came along to support this event, and to our staff for organising such a memorable morning.
Our College is immensely proud of Elijah Winnington (Class of 2017) and his incredible achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Elijah secured his first individual SILVER Olympic medal in the 400m freestyle event. He then displayed remarkable determination, powering through his 800m Freestyle final, swiftly followed by swimming the fastest split in the Australian 4x200m relay bronze medal. Watching his journey from King’s Swimming Carnivals to the Olympics in Paris has been an inspiring journey of his resilience, excellence and courage. Elijah has the character and talent of a true role model and will always be a King’s Kid. Congratulations Elijah!
Congratulations to our former King's student, Keegan Palmer, for winning GOLD in the Men's Park Skateboarding at the Paris Olympics. From his Sports Awards at King's for Skateboarding, to the top spot on the Olympic podium, we have been so inspired to see Keegan chase his dreams and imagine what's possible with passion and persistence. Keegan achieved a remarkable feat, securing his second Olympic Gold medal in his sport of skateboarding by the age of 21 years. After an outstanding performance in the heats in Paris, he led the final with an impressive score of 93.11 points. Well done Keegan!

On Wednesday, 31 July, 30 High School students travelled to TSS for the 2024 Gold Coast High School Chess Championships. The tournament involved over 300 students from 20 Gold Coast Secondary Schools, across five divisions (Premier, A, B, C and D). This event was also the qualifying tournament for competitors from the Premier Division to compete in the Queensland Inter-school Chess Championships (State Finals), to be held in Term 4 in Brisbane. King's student representatives displayed great character while showcasing their skills across the chess board with great success. Our Premier teams made history this year and for the first time since 2002, King's was the only school to win both 1st and 2nd Place in the Premier Division, as well as winning all 4 individual board prizes (best on board). Both teams have now qualified for the State Finals in October. Well done to the following teams!
Kings Team 1 (1st Place)
Kings Team 2 (2nd Place)
This was a wonderful highlight of the day and we also shared great success in some of the other divisions:

View all of our incredible resultsKing’s high school students enjoyed the recent opportunity to attend Masterclass 2024 - a transformative event designed to inspire and equip young Christians. Held by the Bible Society and hosted at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, this free event brought together students from various schools for a day of learning, discussion, and community-building. Our own College Captains, Byron and Emily, were both given important roles in the event. Byron shared an inspiring devotion based on Jeremiah 18:1-4 about being like clay in the Potter’s hands, while Emily gave the event's opening prayer. Students engaged with three distinguished speakers who provided thought-provoking insights from a biblical perspective. The event featured:
Throughout the event, students participated in lively Q&A sessions, engaged in games, and enjoyed singing, all while connecting with other like-minded peers. The interactive and dynamic nature of Masterclass 2024 provided a rich environment for students to deepen their faith, gain practical tools for living out their beliefs, and strengthen their sense of community. We’re grateful for the chance to be part of such a meaningful event and look forward to the continued growth and exploration of our students’ faith.
On Monday, 15 July, students from King's Reedy Creek, Pimpama, and Logan Village campuses gathered at Pimpama for a multi-campus Strings Workshop. The annual event, now in its third year, brought together musicians for a day of learning, collaboration, and performance. Renowned guest educators Mark Sullivan and Nick Stefan provided invaluable coaching to the students. Throughout the day, students received specialised coaching for their quartets and orchestras, refining their skills and deepening their musical understanding. The workshop culminated in combined performances, including the primary ensemble’s rendition of 'Golden Grove,' high school students’ performance of 'Theme from Schindler's List,' and a grand finale of 'A Festival Rondo' by Richard Meyer, featuring all participants. The day concluded with a concert for parents, teachers, and students, showcasing the progress and achievements of each ensemble. Special thanks to King's staff members Nikhil Deo, Jinny Kwen, Sam Konise, and Ryan Chislett for organising this successful event. We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate and nurture our students' musical talents.
King’s Instrumental Music Ensembles have been participating in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod over the past few weeks. Eisteddfods are an excellent opportunity for the students to gain valuable public performance experience while participating in community events and, when time permits, watch how other groups present and perform on stage. It has been a pleasure to be a part of the Eisteddfod and to be part of making beautiful music with other musicians. Congratulations to the following ensembles for being outstanding ambassadors for King’s and giving your best efforts.

Next week the Eisteddfod events continue with the Senior Concert Band and the Year 4 Beginner Band competing at HOTA. We wish them every success.
Thursday, 8 August, was a day filled with both excitement and a touch of nostalgia as the Year 12 Digital Art class embarked on their final school excursion, marking the end of an incredible three-year journey. The students spent the day at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, skillfully capturing the beauty of the animals through their lenses. This excursion was more than just an outing - it was a celebration of the creativity, growth, and camaraderie that these students have shared. As they prepare to move on to new adventures, we want them to know how deeply they have been appreciated. Their talent, dedication, and vibrant presence have left a lasting impact on our school community, and they will be greatly missed.
These photos by Billie Burton are just a glimpse of the remarkable work that this class has produced, a testament to the bright futures that lie ahead for each of them.
We look forward to welcoming our amazing fathers to King's on Thursday, 29 August, for our Primary Father's Day celebration afternoon. We are planning a fun event filled with interactive outdoor games and activities for our Prep - Year 6 dads.
