It's been a fantastic first two weeks of school as we welcomed our enthusiastic Preppies to the Prep Centre, our Year 7 students to High School, and all new and returning students to King's. We wish our new families a wonderful learning journey here at the College and hope you feel warmly embraced as you settle into our school community. We are excited for another year of passionate learning, purposeful living, faithful love, and diligent leadership. Term 1 has already been eventful, with our Year 12s heading off to camp, High School and Primary School students taking part in their annual Swimming Carnival, and all students getting acquainted with their new teachers and classmates. You can read all about these moments and more in this first edition of our College Newsletter.

Maths Olympiad Competition
5 February 2025
The 2024 International Maths Challenge - Olympiad Competition concluded in December with participation from thousands of students globally. The IMC measures the cognitive ability of a child in mathematics and quantitative aptitude. Through its innovative and ingenious proctored exams, the IMC analyses, compares and nurtures the mathematical reasoning and numerical ability of school going students. Our students took this opportunity to challenge themselves against others from different countries. The competition was intense, and our students achieved outstanding results.

Tommerup’s Dairy Farm Visit
5 February 2025
This week, the Year 11 Food & Nutrition students had the opportunity to visit Tommerup’s Dairy Farm, located in the picturesque Kerry Valley south of Beaudesert. Situated on a sixth-generation family property, the farm spans 200 acres and has been in the Tommerup family since 1874. Students experienced firsthand the life of a working dairy farm, learning about the processes behind producing milk, meat, eggs, and other farm products. They had the chance to meet real farmers and observe sustainable farming practices that prioritise both the environment and food production. Students participated in the creation of an organic mineral plant supplement, an example of the farm’s innovative approach to full-circle farming, feeding some of the farm animals and even milking one of the dairy cows by hand. This excursion was an excellent opportunity for students to connect classroom lessons on food systems with real-world farming practices, all while gaining a deeper appreciation for sustainable agriculture.

Year 12 Camp
6 February 2025
Year 12 camp met and exceeded every expectation I had going into it. After years of hearing about it, I was curious as to whether this camp really was, quote on quote, the best camp you'll ever go on. I am more than happy to say it DEFINITELY was! The excitement buzzing amongst all the students was prominent right from the get-go, setting up an energy which filtered throughout the entire camp. Going head-to-head as houses really fuelled everybody up as we all tried our hardest at silly house games and within all the camp activities. Crawling in mud, slip and slides, getting scratches on the obstacle course, along with dragging canoes as we swam, pushed everyone outside of their comfort zones. But also allowed everyone to come together and encourage one another to give it a go. Shout out to Rayleigh for taking the cup this camp; it was amazing to see how the team united to lift one another up!! Old People Night and Garbage Bag Formal were stand-out highlights! Watching my cohort go all out with their outfits was both hilarious and impressive. Through partner dancing to the hand jive and Mr Vincent and Mr Ravell's Oscar-worthy acting, Old People Night was one of the funniest nights! Garbage bag formal allowed for new friendships to be born through the random partnering, and I know to many it was a pleasant surprise! Sharing dinner and getting to know people whom you wouldn't usually speak to was a memorable experience that allowed for our grade to continue to unify. Sharing the night dancing, playing games and making dramatic exits really made Garbage Bag Formal "a night to remember". Devotions on this camp were UNREAL! The Holy Spirit moved in such a radical way on both nights. Hearing words from Mr Ravell and Mr Vincent was amazing to know how God is moving in the lives of our teachers, along with being able to gain some wisdom from them. The message from Ash about Joy was also insightful for us to learn that the Joy of the Lord is our strength. And being blessed with Pastor Ben Naitoko for night two was so incredible to have him share about sitting in the presence of the Lord and encountering Him. I truly believe that what the Lord did in our hearts on camp will not just remain in camp but will continue to be within us as we continue throughout our last year of high school. Overall, whenever someone says that Year 12 camp is the best, they're most definitely telling the truth. Thank you to the teachers who gave up their time to be with us, and especially to Mr Sealey and Miss Green for creating such an unforgettable camp experience! It has truly set up the 2025 graduates in the best way possible to take on this year. I will cherish this camp very close to my heart. Building bonds and friendships beyond the classroom with both my peers and teachers will forever be something I am eternally grateful for. What an awesome way to finish off camps at King's!

Prep Teddy Bear Picnic
6 February 2025
Last week, we not only welcomed both returning and new students to our school, but we also celebrated the start of a new chapter for our Prep students as they began their journey at King's. To mark their first day, each Prep student received a special new friend—a King's Teddy—a truly memorable way to kick off their schooling experience. We had a fun Teddy Bear Picnic to celebrate, with Mr Meyers and Mrs Payne joining in to welcome our youngest students to the college. We can’t wait for the Teddy Bears to return later this year when we celebrate 100 Days in Prep!
