View all 2024 Term DatesIn the heart of our community, along with our Foundational Values to Learn Passionately, Live Purposefully, Love Faithfully and Lead Diligently, we embrace three values that shape the fabric of our culture: Belong, Believe, and Become. These values aim to encourage students to grow spiritually and foster a vibrant, Christ-filled atmosphere both inside and outside the classroom.
Our Prep to Year 4 students have creatively expressed their sense of Belonging, Believing and Becoming in a special project — culture colouring cards and stickers. Students coloured the pages with enthusiasm and adorned them with stickers, transforming them into personalised canvases of their commitment to these values.
Year 6 students visited our Pimpama campus on Thursday, 8 February, for a Business and Media Arts incursion to participate in a presentation by creative entrepreneur and King's Christian College parent, Ellie Whittaker. Ellie is a fabric designer and illustrator and has established a thriving business designing vibrantly bold and joyful designs. She has worked with some of Australia's biggest retailers and gained significant recognition, licensing her designs to iconic brands such as Spotlight, Streets, and Best&Less.
Ellie shared her business story, from working in her mother's fabric shop to a flourishing business and the pivotal role that social media has played in its extraordinary success. Students were captivated by Ellie's remarkable journey from passionate artist to successful entrepreneur. They gained insights into how she started her business, from developing a business plan to prototyping and advertising. Furthermore, they learned about her commitment to sustainable practices, particularly in terms of packaging and product ordering.
With infectious enthusiasm, Ellie revealed her deep love for drawing and how she transformed this passion into a fulfilling career, reminding students that with dedication and creativity, anything is possible.
Year 4 students have been exploring the exciting world of logos in their Ignite Media Arts classes. Excitement filled the room as the students eagerly identified logos from popular brands around the world in a lively Guess the Logo game.
Students were treated to a special presentation from Miss Alex Scott, King's Christian College graphic designer, where they learned about the significance of logos and gained insights into logo design. Miss Scott revealed her design process for creating our college's Easter Fest logo, walking students through the fascinating journey of bringing a logo to life, from an initial concept to the final design.
Inspired by the behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, students took on the task of designing their own logo for Easter Fest. Students demonstrated remarkable creativity, designing meaningful and visually captivating logos that beautifully communicate the spirit of Easter Fest.
Year 7 Design Solutions students have collaborated with our Year 2 students, working on a unique project, crafting bag tag keychains using a state-of-the-art laser cutting machine. Students embraced the challenge of working with advanced technology, developing their design skills and learning to translate ideas into digital formats compatible with the precision of the laser cutter. The results were impressive, as these budding designers transformed sketches on their tablets into stylish and intricately cut accessories.
Upon completion of the collaborative project, Year 7 students plan to deliver their uniquely crafted creations to their Year 2 peers, fostering a spirit of community within the college. Our high school students have demonstrated from this project that when given the opportunity and the right tools and technology, they can unleash their creativity and create cutting-edge wonders.
Year 7 students studying Digital Impact have immersed themselves in the world of coding. Beyond learning programming languages and lines of code, students are developing their logical thinking and problem-solving skills. As students learn to code, they discover how to shape our digital future, blending creativity and technology and enabling them to contribute to the ever-evolving digital landscape.
At the beginning of the term, a delightful surprise awaited our upper primary students — a brand-new playground has quickly become the hub of their playtime adventures. The new play equipment offers students the ultimate playtime experience, featuring thrilling slides, a challenging rock-climbing wall and a rope-climbing tower.
The exhilarating slides of our classic playground invite students to climb ladders, explore platforms, and descend the twisted chutes with joy. Filled with laughter and playful activities, the slides have become a beloved space for students.
A multi-faceted rock-climbing wall offers multiple challenges on each side. Students embrace the ascent of the rocky surface, not just for the challenge but for the sense of accomplishment that comes with reaching the top.
Adding a dash of adventure, a rope climbing tower has quickly become a favourite among the more daring students. The ropes not only promote physical strength but also develop students' coordination and balance as they embark on exploring the heights of the tower.
Together, the slides, rock and rope climbing structures cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our upper primary students. Whether students enjoy the traditional joy of sliding, the rugged challenge of conquering rocks, or the adventurous spirit of climbing ropes, there's a space for everyone.
On 12 - 16 February, our libraries across King's Christian College celebrated Library Lovers' Week. Students embarked on a creative journey, penning love letters to express their gratitude and love for our library. In their reflections, students appreciated the abundance of books and expressed thankfulness for the quiet corners and peaceful space the library offers.
Library Lovers' is celebrated worldwide to honour our libraries, librarians, library enthusiasts and the valuable roles libraries play in our lives. The week encourages students to explore the world of books to inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Students have been busy preparing their artwork to be displayed at Easter Fest. From colourful portraits to intricate sculptures and crafts, the artwork on display will showcase the unique talents of our students. Under the guidance of their art teacher, Mrs Stephani Joubert, students have been working hard to bring their visions to life, drawing inspiration from God's creation.
As Easter Fest approaches, we're excited for our school community to celebrate this upcoming special event and look forward to seeing the amazing artwork that our gifted students have created.
Our Year 1 and 2 students recently embarked on an exciting journey to the pool for swimming lessons. With swimsuits on and goggles in hand, students embraced the water to learn new skills and have a splashing good time.
Swimming lessons aren't just about mastering strokes; they're also about building confidence and teaching resilience and water safety. The pool becomes a classroom for life lessons, where students not only learn to swim but discover the depths of their capabilities, both in and out of the water.
Our annual Easter Fest event celebrates the important message of Easter with fun festivities for all ages. We are busy planning an exciting event for our King's family and friends, and we look forward to welcoming you all to our Logan Village campus for our 2024 Easter Fest celebration on Monday, 25 March.
