View all 2024 Term DatesLast Wednesday was a thrilling milestone for our Early Learning Centre Pre Prep students as they embarked on their journey towards Bush Kindy! The little explorers ventured into nature, learning essential skills for safe play while discovering the incredible creatures that inhabit their surroundings. With wide eyes and eager hearts, they embraced the magic of the outdoors, building boundaries and friendships. Each child showed immense curiosity and enthusiasm, making it a memorable day. The smiles on their faces reflected their excitement for the adventures that lie ahead. We can’t wait to see what they will discover next as they continue to grow and learn in this vibrant natural setting. Stay tuned for more updates on their Bush Kindy experiences!
Our Year 5 students kicked off their Project-Based Learning (PBL) journey with an exhilarating entry event that sparked their curiosity and creativity. Guided by the driving question "How can we utilise our passion to meet a need in our community with science and technology?", our young scientists immersed themselves in three captivating experiments.
Students observed the explosive reaction of Elephant Toothpaste, experimented with the magical effects of soap and food colouring in milk and delighted in the balloon-inflating magic of vinegar and bicarb soda. These hands-on activities not only thrilled our students but also laid the groundwork for deeper exploration into the world of science.
Through this engaging entry event, we aim to nurture a passion for scientific inquiry and inspire our students to apply their newfound knowledge towards solving real-world challenges in our community this term. Stay tuned as our Year 5 students continue their journey of discovery and innovation in the exciting realm of science and technology.
Back-to-School Routines
As we gear up for the second half of the school year, creating effective routines plays a crucial role in helping children thrive academically and emotionally. Dr Justin Coulson, an expert in parenting and child psychology, emphasises the importance of consistent routines in fostering resilience and success.
Start each day at the same time, following a family routine (checklists can be a great option as there is less thinking to do). Prepare a nutritious breakfast and engage in moments of connection with your child to create a positive start to their day.
Afternoons are the time to allow your child to recover from a long day, have some downtime and unpack their school bag before extracurricular activities begin. Encouraging your child to read a book or play outside is an effective way for the afternoon to run smoothly.
Evenings should prioritise fostering relationships, minimising screen time, and ensuring ample sleep. It is also essential to prepare for the morning ahead by laying out uniforms and shoes and packing lunchboxes, school bags and other essentials. This preparation transforms mornings from chaotic to calm, reminding us that an easy-going morning begins the night before.
By implementing these strategies, inspired by Dr. Justin Coulson’s insights, we can empower our children to approach the second half of the year with confidence and resilience. You can discover more parenting tips and articles written by Dr. Justin Coulson at https://happyfamilies.com.au/ ...

The Australian Curriculum has been updated to 'Version 9.0' and designed to prepare students for the future world in which they will live. It is a three dimensional curriculum for Prep – Year 10 which encompasses:
At the start of Term 3, Teaching and Learning leaders from Primary and High School across our King's campuses gathered for a professional development day focused on understanding the revised Australian Curriculum for each learning area. They examined how this curriculum would build upon skills from Prep to Year 10 and discussed changes needed to current resources and practice as we adapt subjects for the requirements of the new curriculum.
The Curriculum Day gave our staff a valuable opportunity to build relationships across primary and high school, and across campuses. This is an exciting collaboration in the curriculum space which will ensure the best outcome for our students as they progress through King’s.
