Easter Fest was a wonderful celebration and it was heartwarming to see our school community come together and enjoy all the festivities. From egg hunts to face painting to live performances, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
The performance walk was a truly memorable experience that showcased the incredible talent of our choir, instrumental music and dance students. It was impressive to see the depth of our student's creativity and devotion to their faith in the amazing artwork on display from all our students.
With our theme Ransom and Rescue, we were reminded of the ultimate act of sacrifice and love that was demonstrated on the cross. Through the art, music, performances, and creative expressions on display, we hope you were able to immerse yourselves in the story of Easter and gain a deeper appreciation for the message of hope and salvation.
Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. We hope all families and friends of King's Pimpama have a blessed and happy Easter. May this holiday be a time of renewal, hope, and joy for each and every one of you.
The 2023 Prep to Year 2 Fun Run was a delightful event full of colour, fitness, fun activities, and support from friends, family, and staff members. The students did tremendously well running the fun run course and navigating the various obstacles in their way. The sack races and egg and spoon races were heaps of fun; enhancing house spirit, teamwork, and encouragement.
Thank you to all the staff for their help running the event and to the Pimpama parents and friends for providing the generous morning tea of a muffin and fruit after the event. Thank you also to all of the parents, families and friends that came to support our students on the day and a massive shout out to the parents who volunteered to run the course at the end of the event.
Congratulations to Finney house on winning the Prep to Year 2 Fun Run with 376 points. Rayleigh was a close second with 345 points, followed by Newton with 291 points and Tyndale with 221 points. With the Principal's Cup a very close race at the end of Term 1, the student's participation in the Fun Run will no doubt play a big part in deciding who takes out this ultimate prize at the end of the year.

Year 6 students were given the opportunity to lead morning devotions in primary classes from Prep to Year 5 on Thursday, 23 March, and the results were truly inspiring. Students led praise and worship, shared an encouraging message with their peers and prayed together.
For students in Prep to Year 5, listening to their Year 6 peers share their faith can be a powerful and relatable experience, helping to reinforce the Christian values that we strive to instil in all of our students.
For students leading devotions, it was a rewarding opportunity for Year 6 students as they developed their leadership skills and grew in their faith while strengthening the sense of community within our school.
King's budding Year 6 entrepreneurs have been working on a Business Plan this term as part of their Business and Economics unit. Students were tasked with creating a product or service that would contain sustainability principles. They then produced a business case with a plan to commercialise their product and worked on a 'pitch' for a team of visiting venture capitalists. All of the Year 6 students created fantastic business proposals and the top six were selected for King's Shark Tank culminating event.
On 24 March, the King's auditorium was filled with a captive audience of Year 6 students, who watched in anticipation as their peers presented their ideas to the 'sharks.' The three sharks followed with some challenging questions, but the students responded with confidence. Congratulations to our winning entrepreneurs whose product was called UV ZERO - Ariel Rerekura - Tamaiva & Ashlin Wheeler designed:
- An app that connects to a UV attachment to recognise where you have and haven't applied sunscreen, as well as
- A sunscreen bottle that automatically ships you out a new bottle when it's nearly empty, ensuring that you are always ready for those sunny days!
Many thanks to our amazing 'Shark' judges, Mr Jason Knight, Mrs Strachan and Mrs Hope Malcolm, for giving their time and bringing their management expertise to help select our 2023 winners.
Mrs Renee Sanson
Year 6 Lead Teacher
On Monday, 20 March, Primary captains and Culture captains hopped on the train towards Brisbane with Mrs Strachan to attend the state youth leadership conference. Not exactly sure what to expect, we were excited and with anticipation we were looking forward to a great day! Once we arrived, we made our way to the theatre. The atmosphere was buzzing with 50 different schools and 500 students attending.
In the opening session, there were two speakers, Bonnie and Amanda. They talked about setting goals and about the different ways to lead. What really stood out to me during this session was when they were talking about the old American saying… you have two lions. A fear lion and a courage lion and in every situation, if you feed the courage lion then courage will win, but if you feed the fear lion then fear will win. The ways to feed your courage lion are positive talk, having a growth mindset and taking action, writing your own story. The next speaker we had was Wil Massara, the CEO of the conference. He talked about achieving your goals, changing your environment and keeping in mind that your age doesn’t determine your ability to achieve extraordinary things.
After a 40-minute break, we went back inside to listen to guest speaker, Amy Tobin. She runs a business called, “I can run”. She helps children that have a disability and therefore face limitations to do sport. She always got left out at school, since she can’t walk and that inspired her to support others with the same challenges and make a difference to include everyone, no matter the disability. So inspiring!! Our next guest speaker, Kurt Jones, talked about how everyone is unique and different and that we should all leave a legacy, don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, if you have a dream, make it a reality!
Lunch time!!… my tummy was ready for some food! We enjoyed a yummy lunch at the Burrito bar, it was so good! Once we were finished eating, we went back for the afternoon session. We talked about different leadership styles and this quote, when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. This means if you are about to do something completely out of your comfort zone, then you should change the way you look at it to make it seem not so scary. Something I’m really going to try and apply to my life.
What a great day! I really enjoyed this conference, and I was so inspired when I left. Thank you to the teachers and management at King’s for helping us to grow as leaders and giving us opportunities like these.
Kyla Koeleman
Year 6 Student, Primary School Captain
Without a doubt, every student who attended the Dream and Lead Conference left with knowledge that would help them on their lifelong journey in achieving their dreams. At 7:45am, the Primary and Culture captains got on a train and soon arrived at the amazing Brisbane Convention Centre. Here great inspirational leaders from the lead and dream team gave the students tips and quotes that our school leaders will never forget and use these to make our kings community stronger. One of the quotes that really stuck out was “My age does not determine my ability to achieve great things”, which is sure to inspire kids to start working on their goals despite their young age and lead by example.
Along with the main speakers, there were also great guest speakers, such as Amy Tobin. Five hundred students from 50 other schools learned that Amy Tobin is a wheel-chaired athlete diagnosed with cerebral palsy. She is a Race Runner (a sport specifically designed for people in wheelchairs) and a true leader for, despite her disability has encouraged others to participate in this sport. Amy Tobin proved to be a real inspiration to the primary leaders of all schools.
The next guest speaker was Kurt Jones. He was diagnosed at an early age with ADHD, which was only made worse with the passing of his father. In grade six, he was sent to a special school in the area. This school, surrounded by wildlife, played a big part in his appreciation and love for koalas. It was only shortly afterwards that he discovered the danger his beloved animals were in. This was the motivation which encouraged him to “Turn my life around”, he said, and started a business at the age of nineteen. Kurt Jones is the director and founder of Co-exist Australia. This organization strives to teach the youth about wildlife endangerment and what we can do to protect these unique and special animals.
It was truly inspirational to hear these amazing guest speakers talk about how, despite their obstacles along the way, they overcame the challenges to fulfill their dreams. They are true, inspirational leaders and no doubt inspired many students to rise to the challenge of leadership and fulfill their dream.

Culture Day wasn't just a colourful display of traditional outfits, but also a demonstration of our high school students' generosity as they came together on Friday, 24 March, to support Bali Christian College.
Students were encouraged to wear a shirt or outfit that represented their cultural heritage and make a gold coin donation to support the cause. A delicious BBQ lunch and bake sale further contributed to the fundraising efforts.
The fundraising day was a great success, with significant funds raised that will allow us to bless Bali Christian College on our trip in September. Thank you to our high school students for your generosity and support on Culture Day.
At King's, we believe in the power of living purposefully and serving others. Our recent mission trips have allowed our students to contribute to communities in need while growing in compassion, respect, grace, humility, and self-control.
We're thrilled to share our latest documentary, showcasing our students' life-changing experiences on these trips.
