King’s Pimpama Prep students celebrated a special milestone on Wednesday, 24 July, marking 100 DAYS IN PREP. Their journey so far has been filled with new faces, places, and experiences, and our students have embraced it all with curiosity and bravery. From meeting King’s larger-than-life lion on their first day to growing their skills in reading, writing, counting, and making new friends, these students have learned so much already. To commemorate their first 100 days, we had an exciting activity filled day celebrating 100 days brighter. In specialist classes, the students had a day of merriment as they painted and colored posters during art, raced through the jumping castle for PE, and learned a new song with Mrs. Bracic. In music, they listened, sang, and danced to a story, and in class, they had fun with playdough. At the end of the day, each student received a colorful balloon and a glow stick wristband to remember the celebration.
Adding to the festivities, our wonderful teachers and students dressed up in their bright coloured clothing. Each class had a photo taken at the special signage to mark the day. Our Head of Primary made a special visit to express her pride in how well the students have settled into King’s. The entire Prep community revelled in the celebration and cherished the shared moments as they look forward to many more learning adventures ahead.
As our Year 12 students approach their final months at King's Pimpama, we held a special celebration day to mark the start of the 100-day countdown. The festive morning started with a hearty breakfast in The Forecourt, where laughter and camaraderie filled the air. Adding a playful twist, the students wore colourful pyjamas and transformed the space into a vibrant slumber party. This event encouraged unity and excitement across the cohort as they anticipated all the exciting 'final' events ahead of them this term. As the countdown continues, we are championing and supporting our seniors to finish with excellence, and to make the most of every last moment of their Year 12 experience.
The Middle School Arts Showcase took place at the start of Term 3. Here is a highlight video from the evening's performances:
Participating in the 2024 City of Gold Coast Junior Council has been an incredible experience. Not only have I had the opportunity to branch out and network with students from High Schools across the Gold Coast, hearing their different passions and experiences, but I have also gained behind the scenes insight into the Council’s valuable and creative work that helps make the Gold Coast so special. Having the Gold Coast City Council supporting young people so we can make a difference has been encouraging, too.
When the program commenced earlier in the year, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. However, through the past two meetings held at HOTA and Broadbeach Community Precinct, I have spoken to leaders of important community services such as the Mayor – Tom Tate, Councillors, the Police, the Fire Department and Surf Lifesaving. Hearing their servant hearted approach to leading our city has been inspirational.
Last week, we met at CBUS Stadium to celebrate the start of the Paris Olympics, and the countdown to Queensland’s own Olympics in 2032. We met Sarah Carrigan (road cyclist) and Brooke Hanson (Swimmer), both of which have won Gold Medals for Australia at previous Olympics. Tom Tate, the Gold Coast City Mayor, spoke about what it means to be a leader, and Sarah and Brooke spoke about their journey to a gold medal. We were even on the news!
In all honesty, it can be quite intimidating meeting new people, but the relationships I have developed through this program make it worth it. A highlight for me was definitely the workshops we got to do for the 2032 Olympics, at our most recent meeting. We had the opportunity to have a say on what should be considered for the Olympics, including the art festival leading up to it. These are once in a lifetime experiences, and I am glad I took up the opportunity to be involved.

Year 10
In a recent Set for Success lesson, Year 12 students were treated to an inspiring presentation by a special guest speaker from Think Pacific, Isla Gainfort. An alumnus of King's Christian College, Isla, introduced our Year 12 students to the exciting volunteer opportunities and internship placements in Fiji and Bali, drawing from her personal experience as a former participant in the program.
Think Pacific, an organisation dedicated to creating meaningful travel experiences, offers young people the chance to make a difference while immersing themselves in new cultures. During the presentation, Isla shared insights into the various programs available, highlighting the unique experiences awaiting volunteers and how these placements not only benefit local communities but also provide invaluable personal growth and cultural exchange opportunities.
The enlightening session has opened new horizons for our Year 12 students, encouraging them to consider how they might positively impact the world while gaining unforgettable experiences in beautiful and fascinating locations like Fiji and Bali.
King’s Instrumental Music Ensembles have been participating in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod over the past few weeks. Eisteddfods are an excellent opportunity for the students to gain valuable public performance experience while participating in community events, and when time permits, watch how other groups present and perform on stage.
It has been a pleasure to be a part of the Eisteddfod and to be part of making beautiful music with other musicians. Congratulations to the following ensembles for being outstanding ambassadors for King’s and giving your best efforts.
Senior String Orchestra (Mr Chislett) - 1st Place
Year 4 Beginner String Orchestra (Mr Chislett) - 3rd Place
Junior String Quartet (Mr Deo) - Highly Commended
Next week the Eisteddfod events continue with the Senior Concert Band and the Year 4 Beginner Band competing at HOTA.
We wish them every success!
King’s Music department has been participating in the Quota Beenleigh Eisteddfod over the first two weeks of the term. Eisteddfods are an excellent opportunity for the students to gain valuable public performance experience while participating in community events, and when time permits, watch how other groups present and perform on stage.
Congratulations to the following ensembles for being outstanding ambassadors for King’s and giving your best efforts.
Junior String Orchestra (Mr Deo) - 1st place
Junior Concert Band (Pimpama and Reedy Creek Combined – Mr Aspinall) - 1st place
Pimpama Concert Band (Mr Aspinall) - 3rd place
Year 4 Beginner Band (Mr Aspinall) - Highly Commended
A special mention to the Senior String Quartet (Mr Chislett), who performed beautifully, but
just missed out on a placing.
Congratulations to the students and staff for your dedication and preparation.
On Monday, 15 July, students from King's Reedy Creek, Pimpama, and Logan Village campuses gathered at Pimpama for a multi-campus Strings Workshop. The annual event, now in its third year, brought together musicians for a day of learning, collaboration, and performance. Renowned guest educators Mark Sullivan and Nick Stefan provided invaluable coaching to the students. Throughout the day, students received specialised coaching for their quartets and orchestras, refining their skills and deepening their musical understanding. The workshop culminated in combined performances, including the primary ensemble’s rendition of 'Golden Grove,' high school students’ performance of 'Theme from Schindler's List,' and a grand finale of 'A Festival Rondo' by Richard Meyer, featuring all participants. The day concluded with a concert for parents, teachers, and students, showcasing the progress and achievements of each ensemble. Special thanks to King's staff members Nikhil Deo, Jinny Kwen, Sam Konise, and Ryan Chislett for organising this successful event. We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate and nurture our students' musical talents.
We are thrilled to celebrate Emily Clark, a Year 12 student, for her outstanding performance at the recent softball national event. Competing for Queensland, Emily and her team delivered an exhilarating performance, culminating in a nail-biting finish. In a fiercely contested final against New South Wales, Queensland fought valiantly, ending the 7th innings tied at 3-3 and heading into a tie-breaker. Despite their tremendous effort, NSW scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th, resulting in a 4-3 win.
Emily's dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, as she has been selected for the All Australian team. This remarkable achievement is a testament to her commitment and passion for the sport.
Emily has also been selected to represent the Queensland Under 18 Girls Football Team as their No.1 goal keeper. They are playing in Perth on 10 August 2024.
Congratulations, Emily! Your perseverance and excellence continues to inspire us all.
Congratulations to Gigi Smith in class 5PC who won the age champion for the 10 year old female category at the recent Swimming Gold Coast Short Course Championships held at the Southport Aquatic Centre.
Well done Gigi! We hope the Paris Olympics are spurring you onto Brisbane 2032!
This term our Pimpama campus, from Noah's Ark to High School, is supporting 100% HOPE as part of our LIFE fundraiser. Established in 2013, by a former Kings teacher, 100% HOPE is a charity that gives underprivileged children in developing countries a future and a hope through educational development and self-sufficient communities.
There will be several different ways you can give towards this cause.
Friday 23rd August - Saturday 24th August
100 Hours of HOPE
High school -
Kings staff and high school students will have the opportunity to volunteer to cycle on one of four exercise bikes. The challenge is to collectively complete 100 hours of riding across a 25 hour period. The event will start on Friday lunch time and continue through the night, finishing during Springfair. Participants will seek out sponsorships and there will also be online and in person methods to give towards the cause.
Wednesday 28th August
DAY OF HOPE
Noah's Ark -
Kings staff and students will have the opportunity to dress up in blue and pink for a donation of your choice.
Primary School -
Kings staff and students will have the opportunity to dress up in blue and pink for a donation of your choice and have the opportunity to purchase donuts.
We are believing to raise over $10 000 as a school community which will go towards building a secondary boy's home for the 100% HOPE students in Uganda. They currently cannot take on more boys because they have reached capacity for accommodation. Our giving will make a huge impact on this project.
If you would like to know more about this fundraiser or how you can get involved, contact Lani Grieve lgrieve@kingscollege.qld.edu.au
LIFE Program Coordinator, Lani Grieve, and 20 students from the LIFE team attended the Connect2Home event on the Gold Coast on 7 August. They joined with the Gold Coast Youth Service as volunteers at the Connect2Home event at People First Stadium, Carrara. This free event is part of National Homelessness Week. Connect2Home assists people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, to create pathways, open doors, raise awareness, and access community support through a one-stop shop, whilst providing services in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Our students helped welcome attendees and direct them to services, handing out food, face painting and assisting at the hairdresser.
You don’t know what to expect before you go on the Bali Mission trip, but what you can expect is that it will be worth every single second. This trip to Bali was my first missions trip with other students I didn’t know. Not only did I build connections and friendships with my other peers, but I built connections with the Balinese people that I will always cherish. The missions trip over to Bali was incredibly eye opening as we got to see other people who are less fortunate, but their faith in God was still so strong. From building connections in friendship and faith and from doing practical work for the people, the experience was truly unforgettable, and I will forever be grateful for being the hands and feet of God for the people over in Bali.

The Hillsong Conference in the July school holidays was such an amazing time of growth for me personally, and in building unity amongst the 70 Pimpama Year 10, 11 and 12 students who attended.
You might not think a 14-hour bus ride would be a trip highlight, but with a guitar, fold-out piano, cards and each other for entertainment, time flies when you’re having fun! It was a great opportunity to strengthen friendships with so many students in my grade. I also enjoyed getting to know some of the students in the grades below me - people I probably wouldn’t have crossed paths with if I hadn’t stepped on that bus.
We spent the next day in Sydney city, which was super cool. We were able to see many of the amazing things Sydney has to offer, such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House, as well as the amazing food, cafes, and restaurants. After exploring the city during the day, we headed back to the Hillsong Conference Centre for the first night of the conference. The room was at capacity, with both the youth and the adults combined in one massive centre. The energy was incredible as the guest preachers shared powerful messages. It’s not every day you get to hear the voices of 5,000 people worshipping together, so I definitely felt very lucky to get to experience that.
Over the next couple of days, we spent time in both the main conference, and in the youth section of the conference - Young & Free (Y&F). Y&F was definitely the more chaotic part of the conference to say the least! Held in a separate conference space, the room was filled with thousands of teenagers, music and tribal war chants. Again, the preachers spoke powerfully, encouraging the youth to live with a purpose, and for a purpose.
Throughout the conference we continued to have opportunities to get to know each other better and encourage one another in our walk with God. Even the late night Maccas runs after the night service provided an opportunity for spiritual community. Over too much fast food and ice cream, we connected in our small groups (once again making so many new friendships), which provided a more intimate time to share and reflect on where God was, and is, moving in our lives.
Personally, I can find it pretty easy to praise God ‘on the mountains’ - when things are going well - but I tend to struggle to continue to praise when things aren’t going too well. The theme of the conference was Always Joy, and God clearly reminded me that no matter the situation, there can be joy in everything!

Traineeship Vacancy Notice BoardKing’s Christian College has enriched the lives of thousands of young people since we first opened in 1980. Many of our current families are also past students that have experienced what it’s like to be a King’s Kid and now desire for their children to be a part of our Christian school culture.
Or perhaps you have a child who is currently enrolled, and you have another younger child eagerly awaiting to start their education journey at one of our three vibrant campuses. We would like to ensure that everyone has the best chance to secure a place for their child.
We are always thrilled to see such high interest in our school, with many families eager to enrol their children. However, this also means that some year levels, particularly Prep for 2025, has reached capacity at Pimpama and Reedy Creek.
To avoid any disappointment, we want to remind our wonderful families of the importance of early applications, especially if you have younger children you’d like to enrol. Our Prep enrolment interviews begin in early in the year
Why early applications matter:
Many of our families assume that because our teachers know about their growing families, there will automatically be a spot available for their younger children. While we love seeing siblings join our school, it’s crucial to understand that a position must be available for your child to attend. Unfortunately, once we reach capacity, we can only place students on a waitlist. For this reason, our Prep enrolment interviews begin early in the year and the sooner we have your application, the more chance of a successful placement.
Tips for a smooth enrolment process:
Apply Early: To secure a spot, we recommend submitting applications well before your desired start date.
Check Availability: If your desired start date is soon, please contact our Enrolments Department to confirm availability before applying.
Online Applications: Our application form is available online, allowing for convenient enrolment and payment via credit card. Please note, a non-refundable fee of $50 will be charged per application.
If you have any questions or need assistance with the enrolment process, please don't hesitate to contact our Enrolments Department.
The Australian Curriculum has been updated to 'Version 9.0' and designed to prepare students for the future world in which they will live. It is a three dimensional curriculum for Prep – Year 10 which encompasses:
At the start of Term 3, Teaching and Learning leaders from Primary and High School across our King's campuses gathered for a professional development day focused on understanding the revised Australian Curriculum for each learning area. They examined how this curriculum would build upon skills from Prep to Year 10 and discussed changes needed to current resources and practice as we adapt subjects for the requirements of the new curriculum.
The Curriculum Day gave our staff a valuable opportunity to build relationships across primary and high school, and across campuses. This is an exciting collaboration in the curriculum space which will ensure the best outcome for our students as they progress through King’s.
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year.
The NCCD is a collection that counts:
• the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability
• the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students.
Students are counted in the NCCD if they receive ongoing adjustments at school due to disability. This ‘help’ allows them to access education on the same basis as a child without disability. The NCCD uses the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992.
Schools provide this information to education authorities in August each year. Please click on the button below to see the fact sheet.
