The 2024 cohort of Year 12 students from Reedy Creek and Pimpama campuses gathered at the start of Term 3 for an inspiring Enterprise event with passion and purpose at the forefront of each speaker’s message. As this cohort approaches the final stretch of their schooling journey at King’s, students had the invaluable opportunity to hear from key members within the King’s community.
Principals, Mr Russell Meyers, who was the first Principal of the Pimpama campus when it opened in 2015, along with our current Principal Mr Rob Verreynne and Mr Jorrie Oosthuizen, who leads the Logan Village campus, welcomed the students and showcased a presentation of key senior management. Each of our Principals have played a leadership or teaching role with this high-quality group of 230 students who have immensely impressed the school’s executive management.
The purposes of the Enterprise Event were to bring the senior students from both campuses together to connect and network with each other; to give them a greater understanding of King’s, its future endeavours; and to impart a bigger vision whereby the executive management challenged their thinking post school.
Mr Meyers stated that the mission of King’s is always to educate students as Christian leaders for this, and future, generations and to excite them on the possibilities at King’s Christian College in the future.
King’s Christian College is the largest independent school in Queensland. Staff numbers have increases across all three campuses while student successes in the areas of sport, academic and cultural achievements are some of the best in the State.
The spiritual heartbeat of the school was shared by Chairman of the Board, Mr Brendon Blakemore who is also a previous parent since 1992, Executive Principal Mr Rees Davis, and Senior Pastor of King’s Church, Ben Naitoko.
Mr Blakemore spoke on Being a Christian Leader. At King’s, Christian principles have been woven through our student’s lives over their time at school. He added, “Christian Leadership is that which has as its highest aim to glorify God by guiding others to grow in faith and service to God.”
Mr Davis’s talk on Big Ideas shared the story of John Newton and William Wilberforce and how the Wesleyan Revival influenced a society over a period of 60 years to pass a law that eventually led to the abolishment of slave trade in England. England had a problem, and a small group of people found novel ways that changed the way a nation acted. Mr Davis challenged this cohort of Year 12s to think outside the box, be a curious and lifelong learner that may bring the change to some of the world’s current issues.
The event continued to motivate our students but also equip them with the mindset needed to tackle personal challenges ahead with confidence and clarity. Paster Ben’s message on “Your Destiny - How God has prepared things for you, in advance, to do” was based on the scriptures in Ephesians 2 and Romans 5 vs 3 – 5. “If you have a setback, remember to persevere to achieve all that God has for you. Don’t quit. God will use the difficult times, and you will have them, to continue to develop your character,” stated Pastor Ben.
The morning concluded with a packed lunch for morning tea. It was a remarkable day that underscored our commitment to preparing students for success both academically and personally.

Purchase King's Ball TicketsParents, families, and friends were thrilled by the recent Twilight Studio Concerts, where students showcased their musical talents. These concerts provide a wonderful opportunity for students taking private music lessons to gain valuable performance experience in an intimate setting. Younger learners get to admire and learn from older, more experienced performers, while parents witness their child's musical growth and increasing confidence.
This season's Twilight concerts spanned three venues, featuring a variety of instrumental performances including Flute, Woodwind, Brass, Strings, Guitar, Piano, and Vocals. The performances were enchanting, and the audiences offered enthusiastic support.
A heartfelt thank you to the brave students who performed and to the audiences for their generous encouragement. Special thanks to the Instrumental Music team of teachers for their invaluable contribution to the students' learning and for making these concerts possible.
On Tuesday, 4 June, an inter-campus debating competition was held at King's Pimpama for Year 5 and 6 students from all three of the Kings campuses.
The topic for the 12 debates held was “AI is more risky than beneficial”- a timely and thought-provoking subject that challenged students to delve into the complexities of artificial intelligence. All of the students tried their hardest to prove their points and worked hard in preparing and presenting their arguments.
At the end of the day, the results were as follows:
Logan Village: 2 wins
Pimpama: 4 wins
Reedy Creek: 6 wins
Reedy Creek emerged as the overall winner of the competition, but the event was a triumph for all participants. It provided a valuable opportunity for students to hone their debating skills and engage in healthy competition, showcasing their talents as King's debaters. The day was filled with excitement and learning, leaving everyone looking forward to the next inter-campus challenge.

In Term 2 of Integrated Studies, our Year 3 students delved into exploring Australia’s Neighbours in the South Pacific. Throughout this enriching period, students engaged in researching various aspects of their chosen country, including its cuisine, housing, festivities, and cultural practices.
To culminate this engaging unit, we hosted a vibrant Multicultural Day. On this occasion, students showcased their learning by dressing in traditional attire or colours reflecting their country's flag. The day was filled with art activities celebrating diverse cultures and engaging in traditional games from South Pacific nations. These games aimed to enhance skills like hand-eye coordination, memory, and foster a sense of unity among the students.
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly when families visited to admire the impressive displays crafted by our diligent students. Witnessing our students' pride in their work and their eagerness to share newfound knowledge was truly heart-warming.
For walking, cycling, car-pooling or catching the bus to school, students who participate in the Active School Travel program are rewarded each term for their involvement and commitment to staying active. The program encourages students to adopt healthier and more sustainable modes of transportation and promoting physical activity.
We are excited to announce the Term 2 winners of the Active School Travel program. Congratulations to Armani Nacagilevu from class 2PE and Manekam Sidhu from 5PD, who have both demonstrated outstanding dedication to the program. As a reward for their efforts, each of these students has won a voucher from Rebel Sports.
In addition to their prizes, Armani and Manekam have also earned a place in the draw to win the coveted Active Traveller of the Year award at the end of the school year.
To all our students, keep up the great work, and we look forward to seeing more students participate in this fantastic initiative each week!
Line dancing is indeed a lot of fun! It's a social activity that combines music and movement, allowing people of all ages to enjoy dancing in a group. Our Year 4s had fun learning a line dance during Ignite classes in Term 2 and performed it at the end of the term.
Our arts students recently had an amazing time attending a live production of Beauty and the Beast. With our dedicated teachers by their side, they got to dive into the magic of live theatre, experiencing the incredible artistry up close. From the stunning set designs to the captivating performances, Beauty and the Beast offered a fantastic look at what a career in the arts can be like.
This experience was more than just entertainment; it was a moment of inspiration for our students, helping them envision their own futures in the creative arts. Watching professionals bring characters to life and deliver powerful performances broadened their artistic horizons and sparked their dreams. Events like this show our commitment to nurturing creativity and passion in our students. They underscore the importance of exposing young minds to various forms of artistic expression, shaping their understanding and aspirations for the future.
We’re excited to keep inspiring and empowering our students as they explore their talents and imagine the possibilities ahead.
On the first Saturday of the June holidays, despite the chilly weather, our dedicated students volunteered their time and effort to assist at the Bunnings fundraiser, aimed at raising funds for our highly anticipated 2025 King's Christian College musical. Their enthusiasm and hard work were truly commendable, and we couldn't be prouder of their commitment to making our school community thrive. The turnout and support from both students and staff were truly remarkable. With great enthusiasm, our incredible volunteers manned the sausage sizzle, engaging customers, selling delicious snags and cold drinks, and sharing the King's spirit with the Pimpama community. Their dedication and hard work played a pivotal role in ensuring the day was a tremendous success. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the students and staff who sacrificed their Saturday to participate in this event. We invite all members of our school community to mark your calendars for the 2025 King's Christian College musical - 3 to 5 October 2024. Your support at events like these not only enriches our cultural life but also empowers our students to explore their creativity and talents on stage.
A key aspect of the LIFE program is to run various fundraising initiatives throughout the year to support local, national and international organisations. In Term 1, our LIFE team focused on supporting our mission organisations and in term 2 we shifted the focus to support local organisations.
Noah's Ark Supports Kings Community Care (Pimpama Campus)
As a community support agency, Kings Community Care, a ministry of King’s Church, positively impacts the lives of vulnerable Gold Coast locals by providing emergency food relief. Our Noah's Ark families donated over 135 food items, which were put into packs and given to families in need over the school holidays. Pastor Skye Torti, who leads the Pimpama Kings Community Care team, expressed a huge thank you to all who gave, saying, "We feed hundreds of people each month, and the donations make a huge difference."
Primary School Supports Scripture Union (Gold Coast Region)
Scripture Union’s mission is to bring God’s love, hope, and good news to children, young people, and families. One way SU achieves this is through placing chaplains in state schools to support students through pastoral care catch-ups, programs, and camps. Government funding employs a chaplain for less than two days a week, and community donations fund almost half of a chaplain's income. On Wednesday, 19 June, our primary students and staff dressed up in their cozy winter PJs and purchased pancakes and hot chocolates made by the LIFE team. From this event, our primary school fundraised over $4000! This money will go towards supporting chaplains in our local region. A huge thank you to all our primary students, parents, and staff for your generous giving, and a massive shout-out to the LIFE team for running such an amazing day - over 900 pancakes were made!
High School LIFE Team Partners with Gold Coast Youth Service
Our High School LIFE team formed a new partnership with Gold Coast Youth Service. GCYS is a not for profit, specialist youth support & homelessness organisation who helps young people and their families in the Gold Coast Region who may be marginalised, disadvantaged or homeless. During week 7, our High School raised over 300 hoodies and track pants which were donated to youth to keep warm over the winter season. In addition to this, on Friday 14 June, we held a hoodie/oodie dress up day and raised close to $500! We used this money to purchase phone chargers, COLES giftcards and Shell fuel cards for the service to give to young people in need. 9 LIFE team members had the privilege to drop off the donations to the service. Samantha Robertson (Youth Support and Advocacy Worker) was blown away by the donations and shared with the students the various ways the donations would be used to help young people. GCYS have extended an invitation to the LIFE team to be involved in their annual outreach event next term called Connect to Home. This will be a great opportunity to build this partnership and allow our students to further bless the community.
Term 2 was outstanding - thank you to everyone for your generosity. In Acts 20:35, Paul reminds us of the words of the Lord Jesus, that he said. "It is more blessed to give then to receive". In this passage we are reminded of the words of Paul that as we serve with humility, we testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

We’re excited to share that Student Wellbeing Pimpama hosted its very first Holiday Program. It was an amazing two-day adventure full of new experiences for everyone involved!
Our journey began with a trip to Brisbane for the annual Book Fest hosted by Lifeline. It was a fantastic day filled with fun and books for a great cause. All the money raised at the Book Fest went directly to supporting the Lifeline Crisis Hotline, which provides crucial support to those in need. We then headed out to explore South Bank and enjoy a picnic lunch.
On day two, we enjoyed a day packed with book-themed activities. We created our own imaginative world maps, participated in a character-building competition, and relaxed by watching a movie adaptation of a popular book. It was a day full of creativity, laughter, and connection.
Looking ahead, we want to remind all students in Years 7-12 that the Book Club meets every week during the Second Break at The Gallery. Whether you’re a passionate reader or just looking for a place to hang out, make friends, and chat about books, Book Club is the perfect spot for you!
