We are excited to remind you that on Tuesday, 5th November, we will be holding the final Active School Travel Breakfast event for 2024, starting at 7:30 am. There will be two stations set up for breakfast distribution: one at the entry to the bus park and another at the back gate entry. Our recent visit to Jacob’s Well was a day filled with excitement, adventure, and hands-on learning about the rich mangrove ecosystem. The students explored the unique coastal habitat under the guidance of two expert leaders, Warren and Lyne. Split into two groups, the students got to experience different aspects of this amazing environment while engaging in activities that deepened their understanding.
From the moment they arrived, the children were captivated by the dense mangrove forests. They learned about the vital role these trees play in protecting coastlines and supporting marine life. The experience was both educational and immersive, with students trekking through water and mud, giving them a real sense of the environment they were studying. Equipped with water shoes and insect repellent, they were well-prepared for the adventure.
One of the highlights of the day was learning about the fascinating creatures that live in and around the mangroves, from small crabs to various fish species that thrive in this ecosystem. Lyne and Warren shared insights into the different plant species, the marine life supported by them, offering a well-rounded educational experience. As a bonus, we were able to be a part of the release of a rehabilitated Pelican named Miss Buttercup.
Despite a bit of mud and water, the students had a fantastic time, filled with laughter and curiosity. The excursion not only broadened their understanding of the mangrove habitat but also fostered teamwork and a deeper connection with nature. This hands-on learning day will surely be remembered as a fun, educational highlight of the term.
Last week, our Year 1 students went on a wild safari at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary as part of their "Where the Wild Things are" unit for Science this term. Students got to explore a number of animals in their natural habitat including cuddly koalas, snippy crocodiles, cute kangaroos and so much more! We were incredibly luck to have front row seats to an incredible show that showcased birds including cockatoos, pelicans and a giant wedge tailed eagle! It was such a fun day out seeing some amazing animals up close that we would not normally see, and some lucky students even got to see some animals being cared for by the onsite veterinarians. The train that runs through the sanctuary was also a highlight as students got a different view and had a little rest from the big walk! It was a wonderful day and we already cannot wait to go back!
As part of Logan Village’s High School orientation process, students from our campus in years 8, 9, and 10 had the exciting opportunity to lead the Chapel service and facilitate various activities. Our student leaders played a key role in welcoming their new students, guiding them through any questions they had in regards to transitioning into high school, and showcasing the supportive and vibrant culture at Logan Village.
This hands-on involvement gave our students valuable leadership experience while helping younger peers feel confident and prepared for the next step in their educational journey.
On 15 and 16 October, the Year 8 students had a fantastic opportunity to go Thunderegg fossicking at Thunderbird Park. You might be wondering, "What is a Thunderegg?" That's one of the cool things I learned in our science class this year.
In the past few weeks, we've been studying the topic Earth and Space, where we explored the three main types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Here is where it gets interesting, Thundereggs are igneous rocks, formed from molten rock deep inside the Earth, which made our treasure hunt even more exciting.
Not only was fossicking for Thundereggs an adventurous and fun experience, but it also helped bring our class together in a hands-on way. We could connect what we learned in science to the real world. I was amazed by God’s creation and how uniquely He has formed this incredible planet we call home.

Our Year 6 students, along with new students starting in 2025, had the exciting opportunity to experience a morning in high school during our "Step into High School" event. The day began with a special parent session, welcoming new families to the King's community and introducing the concept of "One School" as families transition from Primary to High School. The session also introduced key support teams, including Chaplaincy, Student Wellbeing, and Culture, who are dedicated to helping students thrive throughout their high school journey.
Students were grouped together for a series of engaging activities designed to ease their transition into high school life. They participated in ice-breaker games to get to know one another, toured the high school campus, and learned practical skills such as managing their lockers and locks. During the Q&A session with student leaders the students watched a Year 7 video interview which gave the Year 6 students the chance to ask questions and gain valuable insights into high school life. The day was rounded off with drama activities and outdoor games, offering a fun and energetic end to the experience. At lunchtime, our current students returned to their Primary school, while the new students were farewelled with excitement as they prepare to join the King's family in the coming year.
We are thrilled to welcome these bright young students into the next chapter of their educational journey!
For our final LIFE fundraiser of the year, our entire school community—from Noah’s Ark through to Primary, High School, and staff—came together to support the incredible work of Operation Christmas Child.
These boxes will now be sent to countries such as Cambodia, the Philippines, and Ukraine, where they will bless countless young people and share the message of Jesus—the greatest gift to humanity.
A heartfelt thank you to all our students, parents, and staff who generously contributed. Your support will have a lasting impact on the lives of young people around the world!
This term, our entire school community from Noah's Ark through to our Primary, High School and Staff came together to support Samaritans Purse: Operation Christmas Child. Students and staff were asked to bring in specific items to put into shoeboxes that will be sent to children in other countries that would usually not receive Christmas presents.
The Life team as well as many other student volunteers have helped so much with this fundraiser by:
assembling boxes
distributing boxes to classes
collecting boxes from classes
sorting through boxes
labelling boxes
packing empty boxes with extra gifts
delivering the completed boxes to the church
With help from our awesome parents/care givers the students involved were able to create over 420 shoeboxes filled with Christmas gifts and raised approximately $1000 to go towards sending off the gift boxes to less fortunate children, that would otherwise not get to experience the excitement and joy of opening presents.
We thank the entire school community by-coming together and creating so many boxes and raising a huge amount of money.
Finally, my experience in the Life team has been wonderful and fun. I am really proud to be apart of the Life team and our simple actions are bringing happiness and joy back into our world and I am so excited to be a part of this group next year.
Hudon Butt - Year 5 student in the LIFE TEAM
Congratulations to our talented Year 7 and 8 Volleyball sport students who participated in the highly anticipated Volleyball Junior All Schools Cup held at the Runaway Bay Indoor sports centre over the weekend of 18–20 October. This was an exciting opportunity for the students to showcase their skills and sportsmanship on the court.
The first day of the competition saw our students take on three challenging matches, including a highly competitive game against their peers from the Reedy Creek campus. Each game was a test of both their teamwork and determination, with every player giving their all to represent our school proudly.
The team went on to the Grand Final match and achieved second place to the winners, Trinity Lutheran College.
We are incredibly proud of our students' effort, enthusiasm, and dedication throughout the competition. Well done boys and a huge thank you to their teacher, Mrs Smith, and coach Jacob Miller for their efforts this season.
This year’s Instrumental Music Showcase was a vibrant celebration of musical talent and community spirit, bringing together King’s students, staff, and families for a night of exceptional performances. Held on October 9 in the Auditorium, the evening was a culmination of months of preparation and practice by students and staff and reflected the value of performing arts at King's. Performances ranged from the Upper Primary Choir, King's Concert Band and String Orchestras to our specialised smaller groups and solo musicians, who all delivered an exceptional array of pieces, highlighting their skills and passion for music.
The audience enjoyed an array of classical compositions to more contemporary tunes, which allowed students to showcase their versatility. Teachers and guests expressed their pride in the students' accomplishments, making the event a memorable highlight of the year. Thank you to our amazing instrumental tutors who dedicate their time and talents to teaching our students. Well done students for demonstrating such a high level of musicianship!
During the September break, some of our most talented musicians attended the very Prestigious State Honours Ensemble Program – Queensland, held at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, South Brisbane. The program required intensive rehearsals over 3-4 days and concluded with public concerts. As an intensive program, students have the opportunity to work in a professional orchestral environment, with world-class conductors. Although quite demanding, these experiences are very rewarding for the students, and help them to appreciate the expertise, time commitment and dedication required to be an active member of an orchestra.
Congratulations to Year 8 student Marcus Marzini who was invited to attend SHEP Qld following his successful involvement in SHEP Brisbane. Marcus shares his thoughts from this wonderful opportunity.
‘SHEP QLD was another level of SHEP. I am so proud to represent King's Christian College and be selected by SHEP QLD to participate in this program.
It was an incredible experience to work with other amazing talented string players coming from different school around QLD and to work under a concerto maestro, Warwick Adeney, an inspiring conductor and teacher.
I have to say, I think I learnt more violin skill, musical interpretation and sight reading in 4 days of SHEP QLD than 1 year of private tutoring.
We were challenged to learn difficult pieces in a short time and worked with around 50 other string players to produce amazing sounds.
I went there without knowing anyone as I was the only one from our school, but then over the 4 days, I acquainted with students from different states whom we learnt skill and technique from each other.
The 4 days early drive from Gold Coast to Brisbane at 6.30am and the 6 hours rehearsals daily were worth the effort of advancing my violin skill. We concluded the program by performing with our string orchestra in front of a full house in the concert hall of QLD Conservatorium. My family said they were so impressed by our performance.’
A huge congratulations to Year 7 student, Malachi Francis, for winning the Canteen Art Competition with his entry 5 Loaves! (Image below).
"The external graphic designer who judged the entries was extremely impressed with the creativity of our students and the high standard of artwork submitted," stated our Principal, Mr. Verreynne.
The winning design will now be finalised by our signwriter, with plans for the sign to be manufactured and installed—hopefully before the end of this term. Well done to all participants for their outstanding contributions!
'Spectacular' best describes this year's King's Ball. From the elegant Imperial Hotel ballroom and the glamorous guests, to the dazzling entertainment and thousands raised for missions, Saturday, 12 October, was a night to remember! This was our fifth ball for King's parents and staff, with the main mission to 'friend-raise' by building a solid and supportive foundation within our school community. This annual event also provides the chance for our parents to help fundraise for our High School Mission Trips and this year, the Ball successfully raised $6,630 through a Silent Auction and lucky draw ticket sales. Our three major prizes this year were Two Vitality Memberships for Rigs Recovery, valued at $2,500 each; four tickets to Luke Combs Sydney Concert; and a $1000 Flight Centre voucher. Congratulations to our lucky winners!
We want to give special recognition to our major sponsors Rigs Recovery, Venues NSW and Optimise Property Investment. Thanks to the many businesses and families who donated to this event, including Optimise Property Investment, Imperial Hotel, Parkwood Golf Club, Officeworks and Gold Coast Wake Park. We also want to thank our parents and staff who attended this event - for helping us fundraise on the night, for bringing so much joy to the occasion and for making this event such a huge success. Our biggest thanks must go to King's P&F Association and our Event Coordinator, Toni Colburn, whose time and energy preparing this event, made this event possible.
