"Tell your children about it in the years to come and let your children tell their children. Pass the story down from generation to generation."
- Joel 1:3
CREATIVE BY DESIGN Week (CBD) has been a favourite annual tradition in our Primary School since 2006 and we’ve just wrapped up another amazing CBD Week at King’s! Our 2023 CBD theme was The Explorers - Discovering HiStory and students were taken on an exciting adventure as they explored the depths of God's great love for the world He created. Chapels focussed on the greatest love story of all and God's gift of His only Son to save our planet. CBD Week began on Monday, 11 September, with a captivating Laser Show and t-shirt decorating. This year's exciting schedule included incredible daily Chapels for every year level, visits to the Book Fair, VR activities facilitated by CQ University, King's Has Talent Grand Finals, art and songwriting masterclasses, Spanish Scavenger Hunts, a Colour Run, and much more!
Our Primary community all enjoyed growing their creative capacity and their relationship with God throughout CBD 2023. Thank you to our Chaplaincy team and our Primary School staff for organising another unforgettable CBD week for our students!
"CBD is a time where we can prioritise and glorify God in all that we do at school. This week allows us to be creative in our way and we are reminded through our own creativity that God is the creator of the universe and what a marvellous universe this is."
- Jessica - 6RE
"CBD is something that I look forward to every year because I love the Chapels and how much the chappies commit every year to help everyone have a relationship with God. Hearing everyone praising and worshipping God just warms my heart and I will remember CBD for the rest of my life."
- Charlotte - 6RE
"CBD brings fun and excitement and is a week to focus on God and make a bigger connection with him. CBD week makes me excited for my future with God and the next year in High School."
- Lara - 6RE
2023 Colour Run
CBD concluded with a bang on Thursday, 14 September, as pops of brightly-coloured powder burst into the atmosphere for our Colour Run fun. With bright smiles on their faces and even brighter colours on their CBD t-shirts, our primary students crossed the finish line of the Colour Run track with many happy memories of a fantastic week and an amazing Term 3 at King's.

King's Art Department ran an art competition as part of CBD week to encourage students to hone their artistic skills in any medium they choose. There were many impressive entries, making it a tough decision for this year's judges. Congratulations to our 2023 Primary Art Competition Winners!

King's Has Talent Competition
One of the highlights of our Creative By Design week was the finals of King’s Has Talent, held on the last day of Term 3. This year, our competition expanded into two categories for each division. The 'Rising Stars' category was new and designed for students who have recently started learning their 'talent.' The 'Next Level' category catered for students with more experience and more developed talents. We recognise and thank all students who participated in King's Has Talent this year.

King's Shares 'R U OK?' Message
8 September 2023
Last week at King’s, we brightened our campus with yellow and black balloons to bring early awareness to ‘R U OK?’ Day for 2023. This annual nationwide campaign emphasises the importance of being in tune with the mental well-being of those around us.
Throughout the week, our Student Wellbeing team ran some special events and giveaways as they shared vital messages about checking in with your mates, asking for help and being great listeners and encouragers. Our Chaplains and Wellbeing staff spent time with KTTC students on Wednesday by cooking them a pancake breakfast, playing basketball and getting together for a craft session. Then, on Thursday, our Primary school students enjoyed class devotions and activities and proudly wore R U OK? Day stickers, while Upper Primary also relished a spirited handball competition. High schoolers joined in with around-the-world basketball sessions and volleyball games, with some students making friendship bracelets in The Hub. Special thanks to King's Wellbeing Team for planning and running these events and spending time connecting with our students and staff. Let's continue spreading the R U OK? Day spirit every day - together, we can make our community stronger and healthier.
Is someone you know struggling? Ask them, ‘R U OK?’ and spark a conversation that could change a life. Visit ruok.org.au for more information and helpful resources.

Years 3 - 6 Co-curricular Honours
8 September 2023
On Friday, 3 September, King's Upper Primary community gathered for a special Honours assembly dedicated to presenting our Years 3 - 6 Co-curricular Honours Awards for Term 3. The awards recognised the exceptional success of our students in Chess and Eisteddfods over the past term, and it was great to see so many recipient's parents attend. Mr Meyers gave an encouraging speech to the audience about success, reminding them that success is not defined by how the world tries to define it - by the number of achievements and awards. Rather, success should be measured in the following ways, he said:
Success is:
Always doing your best (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
Having a growth mindset (Philippians 4:8)
Being grateful for all the good in your life (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Overcoming fear (Isaiah 41:10)
Learning something new each day (Psalms 32:8)
Loving and being loved back (Philippians 2:3)
Not giving up - perseverance (2 Chronicles 15:7)
Not letting obstacles hold you back (Romans 8:37)
Congratulations to all the award recipients on your remarkable achievements and to Tyndale who were announced as leading the Primary School House points tally at the end of Term 3 with 12,666 points!
Year 3 students enjoyed a very special visit with American teachers from Convoy of Hope on Tuesday, 5 September, who brought their Space Camp school program to King's. Space Camp has already seen great success in America and our students were privileged to be the first in Australia to experience it firsthand. Space Camp is an exciting innovation where students can send real-time messages and interact live with the International Space Station, use Virtual Reality to experience orbit and control robots to play games against each other. Our students certainly had a lot of fun as they were challenged to take on the impossible, building their resilience and confidence.
Convoy of Hope is a global humanitarian organisation with a mandate to serve and help those in need. They serve the poor, hurting and marginalised in many ways through their programs, which include feeding children, women's empowerment and natural disaster response. The Space Camp Schools' Program is just one of the ways they are bringing awareness and fun into the classroom so that more young people can learn about the needs of our global community.
On Friday, 8 September, Year 3 showcased their work from the Term 3 Science unit entitled Third Rock from the Sun. During the term, the students had learned about the rotation of the Earth around the sun and how it affects the seasons and climates around the world. They also learned about the phases of the moon and their effects on the tides. The students created eye-catching dioramas to display their knowledge and enjoyed sharing many interesting facts with the parents and friends who visited. They used their experiences of being human sundials to create sundial displays that demonstrated the sun's movement throughout the day. They also utilised their knowledge to craft informative reports and creative acrostic poems about space.
Congratulations Year 3 for your exceptional work which reflected Psalms 19:1-2.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day, they pour forth speech; night after night, they display knowledge."
- Psalms 19:1-2
Year 5's Sensational Science Fair
11 September 2023
This term, our budding Year 5 scientists were kept busy planning, hypothesising and conducting science experiments. They were tasked with creating a scientific investigation designed to benefit the community. The students posed their own ‘driving questions’ with interesting topics such as Can canines improve our mental health? Does exercise change your mood? How can different liquids affect plant growth? Which surfaces have the highest levels of bacteria?... and many more! Over the past few weeks, they worked to display their findings in an engaging way for the Year 5 Science Fair, which took place on Tuesday, 7 September. The breezeway precinct came alive for the Fair as our enthusiastic scientists shared their interesting research with our College community. Special guests included Pre Prep - Year 4 students, as well as teachers, Mrs Payne, and many Year 5 parents. This year's Science Fair judges were impressed with the exceptional quality of all exhibits and were very pleased to see how our students had developed and showcased their scientific inquiry skills.
Congratulations to our 2023 Winners:
1st - Maddison Lazaro
2nd - Alana Lim, Ava McCullough and Mackenzie Hoy

Entrepreneurial Spirit Shines at Biz Day
12 September 2023
King's Biz Day is a favourite annual tradition that provides our Year 9 Young Entrepreneurs students with a real-life scenario to practise their entrepreneurial prowess. After weeks of careful planning and collaboration, our budding business tycoons transformed the High School Oval into a bustling marketplace on Tuesday, 12 September. The entrepreneurial spirit was palpable as students set up their 'shop' fronts and established their 'kitchens'. The oval was filled with delectable aromas, vibrant branding, and lively spruikers who drew in crowds, helping our Year 9 students generate revenue from their stalls. From mouth-watering Mexican to refreshing snow cones, fluffy fairy floss, delectable waffles, exotic bubble tea, irresistible sweets, and more – our staff and younger students relished the diverse array of products on offer.
As our Year 9 shops shut for another year, our ‘business owners’ will now be tasked with completing their financial statements. They have also committed 10 per cent of their profits to charitable causes, demonstrating their desire to give back to the community while sharing the remaining profits among group members. Congratulations to our mini ‘business owners’ for showcasing your enterprise skills, and thanks to our school community for being such supportive customers!

High School's Term 3 Highlights Intro
11 September 2023
What a wonderful Term 3 it's been in high school at King's! As we prepare for the holiday break, it is gratifying to take a moment to stop and reflect on all of the exciting opportunities our students have been able to participate in over the past few months.
From the Teaching and Learning Team in high school, we wish all families a safe and enjoyable holiday. We look forward to school returning on Tuesday, 3 October, and seeing many parents at our High School Presentation Evening on Wednesday, 8 November (Week 6).
King's youngest students from Noah's Ark enjoyed a morning of community, teamwork, and unforgettable fun during their Noah's Ark Pre Prep Sports Day. The special annual event put our littlest athletes in the spotlight, showcasing their boundless energy and enthusiasm while introducing them to our College's House spirit. The morning featured activities designed to make fitness fun and engaging, including obstacle courses, egg and spoon relays, grocery races and wheely bin sprints. It was exciting to see the children show King's Foundational Values of courage and perseverance in their events, as well as respect and compassion, cheering on their friends from the sidelines.
One of the highlights of the event was the participation of our parents in the bin racing challenge, which showed the value of family involvement in our school community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the families who came along to support this event, and to our dedicated staff for organising such a memorable morning. We look forward to our exciting future events as we continue to nurture the God-given talents of our students and celebrate our amazing school community.
Celebrating our Amazing Noah's Ark Dads
8 September 2023
Noah's Ark are thrilled to share a heartwarming recap of their recent Father's Day event held on Monday, 4 September. It was an unforgettable evening of bonding and laughter as many of our beloved dads filled the Noah's Ark playground and joined us for a fantastic celebration!
Dads and kids putted their way to victory on our mini-golf course, showcasing their skills and competitive spirits. Some dads were treated to well-deserved relaxation with massages and shaving sessions. Our King’s Kids showcased their creativity by crafting paper planes, with dads lending a helping hand in designing the ultimate flying machines. And lastly, a variety of games brought out the friendly competition in our dads. It was heartwarming to witness our dads and their children revel in this special evening, strengthening bonds and forging new friendships within our Early Learning Centre community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the dads who made this event a success - your presence and enthusiasm were the ingredients that made it a night to remember!
