View our list of 2024 College Captains & LeadersWeek 2 of Term 4 was filled with mixed emotions for our Year 12 students, whose school journey at King's is quickly coming to an end. Throughout the week, that bittersweet feeling of finishing high school became more of a reality as the cohort enjoyed a number of special 'final' events and fun festivities. This included their final Honours assembly, leadership handover ceremony, final Chapel, commemorative Year 12 tree plant, special Graduation Dinner on Thursday, 12 October, and their fun final day dressed up in 'future career' attire.
Every year, our graduating cohort is named based on the characteristics of that year group and during our final Year 12 Honours Assembly for 2023, our Board Chairman, Mr Blakemore, addressed the 'Year of Confidence.' He congratulated them on all they had achieved and prayed over them as they prepare to head into their final exams. Mr Blakemore shared a pertinent departing message with the group about the importance of having a spirit of generosity. He reiterated that generosity doesn't just mean money, but includes sharing their time, talents, creativity, strength and knowledge.
During the Honours Assembly, it was a privilege to present a number of final Honours awards as well as celebrating our students who have completed Diploma or Certificate (VET) courses while studying at King's.
Congratulations Year 12 Honours and VET RecipientsOn Thursday, 12 October, our 2023 graduates and their parents gathered for the Year 12 Graduation Night at The Star, where they enjoyed a night of recognition, entertaining performances, heartwarming memories and a celebration of the cohort's collective success. During the event, a number of special awards were presented to students who have shown exceptional academic attainment or success in specific pursuits during their time at King's. Our Year 12 Foundation Students (those who have been at King’s since Early Learning or Prep) were all presented with a special gift from our P&F Committee to commemorate having spent their entire schooling at our College. Every Year 12 student also crossed the stage to receive their graduating folio and graduation certificate, marking the end of their school journey at King’s.

This is incredibly difficult to achieve and we are very proud of their dedication to their studies. We also want to acknowledge the efforts of our High School teachers, who work wholeheartedly with our students to help set a strong foundation for their success.

King’s hosted its annual Year 12 Art Exhibition on Thursday, 5 October, giving our senior students the opportunity to showcase their creative talents in various forms of visual arts. The event was a huge success, attracting a large crowd of students, parents, teachers, and members of our College community. The art show, entitled Mariskovka, featured a wide variety of artistic choices, from realistic to abstract, traditional to digital, and painting to photography. The artists all showed originality and flair in expressing personal visions and perspectives through their artworks.
Some highlights of the night included a stunning display of photographic artistry showing knitted headwear that explored identity, culture, and fashion, while another was a captivating portrait made of shattered glass created a striking contrast between light and dark, order and chaos. A live music performance by two accomplished student performers entertained the audience and further enriched the atmosphere. The art show offered a wonderful opportunity for the Year 12 art students to showcase their creativity and diversity, as well as to celebrate their achievements and hard work. The event also fostered a sense of community and appreciation among the attendees, who enjoyed the artistic atmosphere and lively conversation. Thank you to all the students, parents, teachers, and staff who supported and attended the event. We are very proud of our Year 12 art students and wish them all the best for their future endeavours.
King’s Year 3 students embarked on their highly anticipated inaugural school camp on Friday, 6 October. Their overnight adventure unfolded on our school oval, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. The camp program offered a plethora of opportunities for our happy campers, including the chance to form new friendships, develop their social skills, and even master the art of pitching a tent. The group included our Year 3 students, who were accompanied by one parent each, along with their dedicated Year 3 teachers.
The schedule was packed with fun-filled activities, including a communal dinner, treasure hunt, various games, devotional time with God, and a movie night in the auditorium. For many of the students, spending the night in tents under the starlit sky was a novel and awe-inspiring experience, while others showcased their seasoned camping prowess. The Year 3’s inaugural camp at King's marked the beginning of an exciting journey for these young learners, paving the way for many offsite school camp adventures in the years to come.
In the September school holidays, a group of ten Year 10 and 11 students had the incredible opportunity to go on a mission trip to Thailand to help out the Rescue Mission for Children. On this trip, we were able to experience a lot of new things, step out of our comfort zones, and build new friendships with people from the Rescue Mission and among our group. The Rescue Mission for Children is located near Chiang Rai, Thailand, providing a safe home for children needing care. We were very blessed by the love, affection and joy that poured out from the children at the Rescue Mission onto us. We spent our time playing soccer with them, praising and worshipping with them, and we had the opportunity to go to their school and teach them. Spending time with them gave us a new perspective on how blessed we are and we praised God for what we have.
The theme of the trip was 'being comfortable with the uncomfortable.’ Many of us were able to step out of our comfort zones and experience new things that ultimately blessed us. A challenge we all had to overcome was building connections with the children despite the language barrier. Although it was uncomfortable at times, we overcame it and created beautiful memories with them. Some of us also had the chance to speak a message at the devotions and the church, which was nerve-wracking, but forced us to step away from what we’re used to. We are so grateful for how God moved on this trip. Although the goal was to give to the children, we were equally as blessed. It was a life-changing experience that taught us a lot and challenged our perspectives and I am so grateful we have opportunities like this at King's!

King's 2023 P&F Ball was held at The Star in Broadbeach on Saturday, 7 October, where the opulent ballroom provided the perfect backdrop for a night infused with sophistication. This year's Gatsby-themed soirée welcomed a large turnout of 200 parents, teachers, and friends from our College community. Our glamourous guests all embraced the 1920s theme, donning flapper dresses and sequins, tailored tuxedos, and lavish accessories, all adding to the dazzling spectacle.
Our fourth annual P&F Ball was once again meticulously organised by King's Reedy Creek P&F Association with the aim of forging lasting friendships within our school community while raising vital funds for missions. The Ball successfully generated $6,000 for High School Mission Trips from event tickets, the Silent Auction and sales of lucky draw tickets. The standout prize was kindly sponsored by The P&F and Travel Managers and was a trip for two to Vietnam. The winners were a beautiful newlywed couple who were so blessed by their amazing prize.
Our appreciation goes to the King's P&F Association and particularly our dedicated P&F President, Liza Wright. Her unwavering vision, passion, time, and energy were instrumental in bringing this spectacular night to life.
Special thanks to our event sponsors:
This memorable evening showcased the strong community spirit of our school and we look forward to continuing to nurture friendships among our families as we walk an important journey together at King's. Follow our P&F Facebook page for 2024 Ball details and registration information.

Our U15 Bill Turner Trophy Girls team went on their longest run, losing out to Kelvin Grove in the Regional Final. Our football athletes also saw major success in the school sports pathways with 34 athletes making the Hinterland team, and 15 of those students continuing on to South Coast - where three made the Queensland Squad and one outstanding King's footballer was selected for the Australian Squad.

Our Senior Basketball teams tipped off at the CBSQ Open just before the September school holidays. The CBSQ Open tournament spans across five divisions for the boys, and three divisions for girls, including up to 16 teams. King's boys and girls teams finished in the Top 8 of Division 1 which was a solid result.
This year's Primary Schools Netball Cup saw over 1,000 athletes from across the State compete across two divisions and King's Championship team went all the way to the Grand Final, narrowly losing out by only four points in a division of 30+ teams. Our development squad came away in 5th in a division of 60. A huge congratulations to both teams!
A mega All School Touch Tournament saw success across all six of King's teams, coming away as the 3rd-highest ranked school overall. Our 15 & 18 Girls finished inside the Top 4, our 13 boys finished Top 8 with our 13 Girls & 15 Boys placing inside the Top 16.
King's entered six teams into the All Saint’s Rugby 7s Tournament across the 13, 15 & 18s, girls and boys age groups. Our talented U15 Girls and U18 both took out the Tournament, stealing away their Grand Finals by one try. Congratulations teams!
Congratulations to our remarkable High School teacher and dedicated Netball Coordinator, Alicia Green, for her recognition in being named The Teacher of the Year at the 2023 Netball Queensland Awards. Alicia's outstanding achievement is a testament to her unwavering dedication to our netball players in this very competitive sport. Alicia's passion for recognising and nurturing talent has led King's teams to achieve some remarkable feats in regional and State Netball tournaments. Her mentorship and guidance have vastly developed our player's skills and instilled a strong sense of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. King's is immensely proud of Alicia's accomplishments and we are grateful for her continuous efforts in helping shape the future of our athletes. This well-earned accolade publicly acknowledges her invaluable contributions to our school and the broader Netball community and once again, we congratulate, Alicia, on this incredible achievement!
King's Primary Performing Arts Department have been busy rehearsing for many months to bring PETER PAN to life for our College community. This amazing 2023 Primary Musical will be performed over three shows from 19 - 20 October (Week 3, Term 4) and our Year 4-6 cast and our directors look forward to showcasing this exciting, renowned story. Tickets cost $15 each.
As we approach Christmas each year, King's LIFE program coordinates a united effort across our school to support Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that provides a unique way to bless children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts. The gift boxes are then distributed in the name of Jesus to children living in vulnerable situations. The mission of OCC is to provide God’s love to children in need around the world and in 2022, as a result of this gift-giving program, over 2.4 million children gave their hearts to Jesus.
Each class at King's has been provided with one OCC shoebox to fill with the items listed. More boxes can be collected from Mrs Meyers in the Hub. FAMILIES, please help us by buying a toy, hygiene item, school supplies, or fun gift and ensure your OCC gifts are brought to school during Weeks 1 - 3 this term. Each shoebox requires $10 postage, which applies to both official OCC boxes and normal shoeboxes. Some families may prefer to contribute towards the postage of the boxes instead of bringing in a gift. All money for postage is to be handed into the class teacher who will pass on to Primary School Admin.
WHAT NOT TO PACK
Noah's Ark is joining the rest of the College in collecting items to fill Christmas boxes for children in need. Their goal is to fill six shoeboxes and they have already done some fundraising for the postage of these boxes with a free dress day in Term 3. They have baskets in their foyer where Noah's Ark families can place donations of new toys, hygiene items, school supplies, clothing and fun gifts with a focus on gifts for 2-4-year-olds (boys or girls) - suggestions are via the buttons below.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS INCREDIBLE PROGRAM!
