As we approach the end of Term 2 and the midpoint of the school year, Mr Taylor draws a parallel to Carl Douglas' classic 70s hit, "Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting." The lively tune of martial arts chaos can reflect the bustling, sometimes overwhelming pace of this time in the term. However, we strive for a peaceful environment that contrasts this as we place student wellbeing at the heart of our school. Guided by biblical teachings and supported by a range of programs and dedicated teams, we are committed to creating a place where every student can thrive academically, spiritually, and personally. Let’s continue to encourage one another and build a school environment filled with joy, peace, and resilience.
"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing."

King's Building Openings Mark a Milestone Day
5 June 2024
Tuesday, 4 June, marked a significant milestone for King’s, with all three campuses celebrating the official openings of buildings completed over the past year. Event attendees included State Members of Parliament, local Councillors, Church Elders, Executive Pastors, College Board members, Principals, ISQ and BGA representatives, and other special guests.
King’s Logan Village opened new primary and high school buildings, marking the first ceremony of the day. Pimpama campus unveiled its new high school building and hosted a lunch for the special guests. Reedy Creek celebrated the opening of the new primary school building. We were honoured to have the Hon Corrine McMillan, Assistant Minister for Education and Youth Justice, represent the Queensland Government for these openings. She unveiled the building plaques and acknowledged the Government’s significant funding contributions. In her speech, Ms McMillan praised King’s Christian College for our remarkable impact on the Gold Coast and Logan Village communities as an esteemed education provider.
We were pleased for the opportunity to take our dignitaries on a tour through these buildings where they enjoyed seeing our students immersed in their vibrant new educational facilities all designed to inspire learning, innovation, and creativity. Thank you Queensland Government for continuing to support the development of our school.
Every semester at King's, our Honours Assemblies recognise and award our High School students for their extraordinary commitment to their studies and extracurricular pursuits. Our Honours categories for this assembly included academic and College enhancement (Performing Arts & service) and Honours Badges were awarded at Teal, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. In Week 7 of Term 2, we celebrated our Years 11 and 12 High School students for these achievements and presented an impressive 318 awards.
In his Honours Assembly address, Mr Meyers sought to give a more meaningful view of the true measure of success. He emphasised that success is not a collection of achievements or accolades, which are often hard to quantify and can lead to unhealthy comparisons. Instead, he urged the students to broaden their understanding of success by considering several key aspects. 'Success is about doing your best and working toward personal improvement. It includes recognising and being grateful for the abundance God has given you and not comparing what you have to someone else. True success involves lifelong learning and personal growth, constantly seeking to be better each day. We all face obstacles in life, but we should view these as opportunities to build growth and resilience. Success is about helping others to improve and supporting their growth. If we work to grow in these areas, we will be successful.'

Prep Students Share their Wonders of the Marine World
7 June 2024
In an exciting display of creativity, our Prep students transported their peers and teachers into the enchanting underwater world they have been studying this term. Armed with their newfound knowledge of the ocean and its inhabitants, our young marine enthusiasts recreated miniature habitats to show their newfound knowledge of marine life. On Friday, 7 June, they exhibited the dioramas to their special guests from Noah’s Ark. As visitors explored the displays, our Prep students eagerly shared their knowledge about various marine creatures, their habitats, and the importance of protecting sea life. The underwater dioramas represented the culmination of the Prep students' integrated lessons this term and also honed their artistic abilities.
Years 3 - 6 Honours Assembly | Term 2, 2024
7 June 2024
On Friday, 7 June, King's Upper Primary year levels gathered for their Term 2 Honours Assembly. It was great to see a full auditorium of family and friends as we recognised the successes of our Years 3 - 6 award recipients from the term. Deputy Head of Primary, Mr Thomas Wilson, was very pleased to present our Honours to our Performing Arts, Community Service, King's Kid and Worship Warrior awards. Community Service awards were presented to students at each Honours level based on their cumulative number of community service hours. Our prestigious 'King's Kid' awards were presented to one student from each Year 3 - 6 class who had displayed dedication and commitment to King's Foundational Values, while our 'Worship Warrior' awards went to students who had demonstrated a strong commitment to their Christian faith and walk with God.
Congratulations to all of our award recipients on your remarkable achievements!
A group of our 2025 Year 12 leaders had the privilege of attending Southern Cross University's Leadership Summit on Tuesday, 5 November. The workshop was designed specifically for our current leaders, and it provided a great opportunity to learn more about leadership with like-minded students as they strategised based on their values and aspirations for their school communities. The Summit was hosted by Lachlan Smart, who shared his inspiring achievements as the youngest individual to fly solo around the world.
Here are some insights from students:
"We learned the basis of goal setting, how to formulate ideas into achievable plans, and how to overcome adversities. With insightful content, fun activities, and great food, this was an amazing opportunity and really helped us prepare for an exciting year of leadership!"
- Lena Puze
"My personal highlight for the day was seeing people step up and present to the entire group about their ideas and values, and pushing outside of their comfort zone to receive feeedback on their public speaking. I am very glad that I was able to attend the summit and see the entire group become closer as we build towards next year."

Their hard work and weekly training sessions paid off with outstanding results.

The Skipperoos will soon start preparations for the National Championships in Canberra which will take place during the September holidays. This event is crucial for athletes aiming to qualify for the 2025 World Championships in Japan.

Twilight Studio Concert Series
7 June 2024
Parents, families and friends were delighted by the student performances at the recent Twilight Studio Concerts. Students learning a musical instrument in private lessons were provided with the opportunity to perform at these concerts to gain valuable performance experience in a small, intimate setting. The younger learners had the chance to appreciate the older, more experienced performers, and the parents could see the growth of their child’s musical development and confidence. The first concerts this season featured students learning Flute, Clarinet, Brass, Guitar and Vocals. The performances were delightful, and the audiences were very encouraging. Thank you to the students who plucked up the courage to perform and to our audiences for your generous support. Special thank you to the Instrumental Music team of teachers for your valuable input to the student’s learning and for providing this opportunity for us all.
On Monday, 28 October, our Reedy Creek campus came alive with the buzz of strategy and skill as it hosted the highly anticipated 2024 King's Grand Prix (Intercampus Chess Tournament). Beyond the campus rivalry, students played for crucial House points, adding an extra layer of excitement to each match. After a thrilling tournament, the winning campus emerged as Reedy Creek, with Finney crowned as our 2024 House Chess Champions, ahead of Tyndale (2nd), Rayleigh (3rd) and Newton (4th). Throughout the tournament, students showcased exceptional concentration and skill, leading to some outstanding individual achievements, including:

B Division - 1st - Aspen Jackson (PMA), 2nd - Jackson McCarthy (RC), 3rd - Lewis Saul (LV)
Noah’s Ark was buzzing with activity on Tuesday, 28 May, as two of our local heroes made a special visit to the centre. Local police officers Trevor Longhurst (father of Jack from Wombats) and Greg Campbell arrived with brand-new police jet skis, creating a thrilling experience for our little learners. The pair shared more about their role in keeping our communities safe and responding to water-based emergencies. The goal of the incursion was to help our King's kids know that police officers are friendly and approachable figures in our community, who they can turn to for help in times of need. It was exciting to see our children's faces light up with excitement as they each had a turn wearing a police vest and riding atop the emergency vehicles. This hands-on experience not only brought joy but also created a relaxed environment where the children became more comfortable in the presence of police officers. Special thanks to Trevor and Greg for taking the time to support our school!

Running with Heart: Year 4 Students Take on 10km Challenge for Charity
7 June 2024
We are excited to share a remarkable initiative taken by two of our Year 4 students, Riggins and Tavita. These courageous young boys are running 10km on June 22 to raise awareness and funds for people facing tough times. In their homes, these students have had heartfelt conversations with their families about the lack of food, housing, and safety that many people face every day. This includes families suffering from food insecurity, those displaced for various reasons beyond their control, and those who have lost homes due to natural disasters. These discussions have deeply moved Riggins and Tavita, who set an ambitious goal of raising $50,000, which will be donated to Convoy of Hope, an organisation focused on serving the poor, marginalised, and vulnerable. They have already raised $9,731 and we are incredibly proud of their efforts and are rallying behind them as they train and show just how huge their hearts are for others. To learn more about their journey or to support their cause visit their donor page.
