View all 2024 Term Dates View Compass CalendarAs we approach Christmas each year, King's LIFE program coordinates a united effort across our school to support Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC is a project of Samaritan’s Purse that provides a unique way to bless children in need across the world by filling shoeboxes with toys, hygiene items, school supplies, and fun gifts. The gift boxes are then distributed in the name of Jesus to children living in vulnerable situations. The mission of OCC is to provide God’s love to children in need around the world and in 2022, as a result of this gift-giving program, over 2.4 million children gave their hearts to Jesus.
Each class at King's has been provided with one OCC shoebox to fill with the items listed. More boxes can be collected from Mrs Meyers in the Hub. FAMILIES, please help us by buying a toy, hygiene item, school supplies, or fun gift and ensure your OCC gifts are brought to school during Weeks 1 - 3 this term. Each shoebox requires $10 postage, which applies to both official OCC boxes and normal shoeboxes. Some families may prefer to contribute towards the postage of the boxes instead of bringing in a gift. All money for postage is to be handed into the class teacher who will pass on to Primary School Admin.
WHAT NOT TO PACK
Noah's Ark is joining the rest of the College in collecting items to fill Christmas boxes for children in need. Their goal is to fill six shoeboxes and they have already done some fundraising for the postage of these boxes with a free dress day in Term 3. They have baskets in their foyer where Noah's Ark families can place donations of new toys, hygiene items, school supplies, clothing and fun gifts with a focus on gifts for 2-4-year-olds (boys or girls) - suggestions are via the buttons below.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS INCREDIBLE PROGRAM!

The inaugural Instrumental Music Showcase was held at Pimpama on 11 October 2023. After many, many hours of preparation and rehearsals, the performers and teachers were very excited to present a fabulous night of entertainment. The audience was very impressed with the quality of the students' performances.
Performances included items from Senior and Junior String Orchestras and Quartets, the Pimpama Concert Band, the Guitar ensemble, and the Upper and Lower Primary choirs. Music Scholarship students delighted the audience with their solo items.
"We are immensely proud of the dedication and talent our students have poured into preparing for this showcase," said Mr Lindsay Genge, Instrumental Music Coordinator for King's Christian College.
"This event is a testament to the incredible musical journey they have undertaken. Thank you to the fantastic teachers who’ve worked tirelessly with the students to prepare them for their performances, and for all who joined us in celebrating their hard work and passion for music," said Mr Genge.
On 11 September 2023, 16 students and four staff departed Brisbane airport on our first overseas mission trip from Pimpama to Denpasar, Bali. Students participated in a variety of different activities including teaching English, running chapel services, as well as praying and teaching the Word of God within the local community. We partnered with Bali Christian College and its associated organisations, including the Compassion Project. For many students, this was the first time they had traveled overseas and seen third-world poverty firsthand. It was a life-changing experience for many students, we look forward to partnering with Bali Christian College and its surrounding organisations again in 2024.
On Tuesday, 10 August, six Year 11 female students were provided with the opportunity to attend the Emerging Young Women Leaders Business Skills Masterclass at Southern Cross University (SCU). Here we met and picked the brains of some of the most successful and experienced women in their respective fields, more specifically in regard to future career advice, the importance of connecting, and the necessary devotion required in the workforce. In such a new environment, the students were pleased to be greeted by Candice Richards who is both a previous Kings student and aspiring Occupational Therapist at SCU. Not only did she provide us with insightful information about her course but delivered an inspiring speech on life after high school and the potential out in the world. Among the rest of the panel, was the previous CEO of Bodyscience International Pty Ltd: Sheree Young, and 5-time record holder and climate change activist Lisa Blair. Despite all these women having different experiences, each of them had valuable lessons and advice to give, opening themselves up to any questions our group had. Here are some lessons and advice we took away:
Ane Van Zyl: ‘I found this experience really rewarding. I learned valuable lessons about perseverance, courage, and determination that I will take with me as I progress through life. I’m grateful for the opportunity that we were given to hear from such inspiring women and that we were pushed to step out of our comfort zones and take a leap towards becoming better leaders.’
Deep Shergill: ‘The event organised by Southern Cross University was a very rewarding and thought-proving experience. It was an amazing opportunity to hear some of the country’s exceptional and inspiring women in leadership. The guest speakers spoke about their success stories, empowering various young women like me to step out of our comfort zones and never miss any opportunity given.”
Kaela Pearson: ‘This experience inspired me to step beyond my comfort zone, unveiling the incredible opportunities that exist in the world. In a remarkable setting, surrounded by inspirational guest speakers and empowering women, we were shown that we possess the potential to build our own empires, explore the world, or even break world records. That the world is at our feet, that we just have to keep failing forward.
Lily Petherick: ‘I found this experience very eye-opening. It made me think about myself as a leader and challenged me to get out of my comfort zone. I learned valuable lessons from all of the speakers and was inspired to make the most of life and the opportunities that I am given.’
Neet Shergill: ‘This event is such an amazing experience and I am very grateful to have been offered the opportunity to attend it. All of the guest speakers were such incredible and successful women. It was interesting to hear about their success stories and the struggles they went through to make a name in the working sector. The workshops encouraged everyone to take a step outside their comfort zones. I have learned such valuable lessons about women’s leadership, confidence, courage, and perseverance.’
It was truly a memorable experience and a privilege to meet such esteemed women who are working diligently to positively impact and influence the future generation of leaders. I’m certain everyone left just that little bit more inspired.

On Wednesday 18 October, the Year 8 cohort gathered for a Japanese Cultural Day to consolidate learning from the Humanities Shogunate Japan history unit and set the foundation for the Term 4 Japanese unit – 'Festivals and Celebrations'. The rotational sessions included a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony provided by Sachiyo Sensei, where students sampled Japanese tea and fine Japanese sugar sweets. A calligraphy rotation was provided by Tami Sensei where students were able to use traditional ink brushes to discover the symbols commonly used in Japanese calligraphy such as Kanji. Students were also treated to a sushi making session led by Mrs. Carseldine. They used sushi mats and seaweed nori sheets to roll a vegetarian sushi feast and then enjoyed eating the final result. A popular rotation proved to be the Karate session. It was demonstrated by GKR Karate’s senior instructor Sensei David, assisted by Sensei Geno and Sensei Dan. Students had fun learning some discipline character-building positions and self-defense moves. The finale of the day was provided by Junko Sensei and the Kizuna Taiko Japanese drumming team, where students watched an exhilarating live drumming performance. Some students were selected to practice the drumming techniques on stage in the workshops. A sincere thank-you to the many staff who contributed to making this exciting cultural experience a reality with additional special mentions for Mrs. Pamiloza, Mrs. Carson, Mrs. Dippel, and Ms. Winter. It was a fantastic day for all involved.

This year we took our Year 10 cohort to Alexandra Park on the Sunshine Coast. Although it was a small group in terms of numbers, nothing stopped the students from having a big experience both in the daily activities and the nighttime devotions. The staff were able to witness students conquer their fear of heights on the leap of faith and high ropes course, aim true with archery tag, and cool off in the crisp waters of Alexandra Headland Beach.
Students built new relationships with their peers as they worked together to achieve their goals in each challenge. Following some superb meals in the dining hall, our students then engaged with some House challenges before diving into our evening devotions. The highlight for the staff was seeing God move in the lives of our students. Strongholds were broken as these young people pressed into praise and worship and were fed by the Word from our guest speakers. I truly believe that a lot of our students came back from camp with a deeper love and understanding of what Jesus has done and continues to do in their lives. Bring on Survivor camp next year!

There are a range of articles to help parents investigate and make decisions regarding careers for their children:
Dedicated Year 5 teacher, Joel Buhner, has a gift for turning life’s nuances into beautiful melodies.
Joel picked up a guitar for the first time at the age of seven. It wasn’t until he was 12 that he took it seriously and began playing the guitar. Ever since that day, music has reverberated through Joel’s life and is his passion.
His musical prowess isn't confined to personal expression alone. As a teenager, he gained confidence as a musician by being a part of his church’s worship team.
Beyond the confines of his practice room, Joel finds his musical sanctuary within the walls of his church. As a valued member of the worship team, he lends his talents to create an atmosphere of devotion and unity. His music, a bridge between the sacred and the secular, touches the hearts of congregants and fellow musicians alike.
In 2022, he began to immerse himself in the world of online music studies at the University of New England, looking at ways to constantly refine his craft and broaden his horizons. With the help of King’s Pimpama’s music teacher, Mr Anthony Blazley, who took him under his wing as he needed to audition for the course. His dedication to learning is evident in every note he plays, and every chord he strikes.
For one of his assignments, Mr Buhner had to create and record a piece of his soul. He penned a song that captured the essence of his journey: "The Critic." This song, now streaming on Spotify, is a testament to his resilience, reflecting the highs and lows he's encountered in his musical odyssey and is a signpost of his musical journey.
Joel's musical taste reflects a vibrant personality. He's drawn to the spirited energy of punk-pop, finding inspiration in bands like Relient K, Switchfoot, and Blink 182. These influences seep into his compositions, infusing them with a distinctive vigour, which he hopes will resonate with his listening audience.
With dreams as boundless as the melodies in his head, Joel aspires to intertwine his love for music with his teaching career. He envisions a classroom where notes and equations harmonise, where creativity is as valued as calculation. He understands the transformative power of music in education and seeks to ignite that spark in each of his students.
But Joel's aspirations don't stop there. He envisions himself as part of a musical or theatrical production, where he is a member of the orchestra or band. It's a dream he nurtures, knowing that one day, it might just become a reality, even right here at King’s Pimpama as our performing arts department grows.
As Joel's journey continues, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of being a dedicated teacher, who loves to sing and play music. Each strum, each lyric, and each beat is a testament to his unwavering dedication. Through his music, Joel Buhner not only crafts a melody but one day hopes a legacy that will be a testament to the power of passion, persistence, and the belief that dreams can be sung into existence.
The song is available on Spotify and Apple Music. Help Mr Buhner get Likes by listening to his song, The Critic.
We are thrilled to announce the KoKocino Babyccino Cup Design Competition winners, which was part of Creative by Design (CBD) Week at King's Pimpama! The CBD week is normally a Primary school event, but this competition was extended to our High School students, who got behind the design process and submitted several entries.
This exciting competition, organised by King’s parent and entrepreneur, Jill Daub, ignited creativity, and many entries were received. The aim of the competition was to spread kindness within our community.
Congratulations to Kirra Morrell (Year 8) and Anneliese Hardman (Year 7) for their winning designs. They each won a shopping voucher valued at $50, a commemorative certificate and their winning designs will soon feature on the 2024 stock of KoKocino cups.
The central theme of the competition was to “Fill Your Cup with Kindness." The aim was to reflect on what kindness means to the student and translate it into a visual masterpiece.
Anneliese Hardman’s unique design incorporates the morning sunrise, baby chickens, and bees. She remarked that she chose them for her design as they are natural elements and make her feel happy. While Kirra Morrell’s design incorporates flowers, she enjoys expressing herself creatively. Kirra is very pleased with her win as she is thinking of a future career in product design.
Jill’s daughter Tasha, a King’s Kid and Prep student was the judge in choosing the winning designs.
Mrs Daub stated, “The winning designs fulfill our brand promise with their fresh and natural look, just like our allergy-free babyccino cups that are made from bamboo, and are BPA and PVC-free.
KoKocino cups are not just ordinary vessels; they are crafted from sustainable bamboo material, embodying the values of eco-consciousness and longevity. With each sip, families are invited to embrace a lifestyle that cherishes both our community and our planet.
Inspired by a heartfelt mission, KoKocino was born from a personal experience - the Daub family's journey as an allergy-conscious household. Their daughter, like many of our own, faces challenges in finding safe treats at cafes. In response, the Daubs decided to create a solution that not only addressed this concern but also added a touch of joy and inclusivity to their daughter's experience.
