View all 2024 Term Dates View Compass CalendarOur Primary School and Noah's Ark students and teachers, were bubbling with excitement at our Mother's Day Celebration events. On Friday, May 10th, our school had the pleasure of welcoming our wonderful mums into our classrooms for a day filled with love, laughter, and special moments.
On Friday, 10 May, our mothers spent time in class with their children enjoying some creative activities together, and it was heart-warming to see our King's classrooms brimming with fun and mum-focussed festivities followed by a special treat with our Student Wellbeing Coordinator, Mrs Louise Herrera, as our special guest who spoke about "Remember you are enough; know what you are giving your 'Yes' to, and 'who you are' is more important than 'What you do'."
Mrs Herrera discussed the importance of valuing our role as mothers and remembering to plan and practice self-care regularly. "Taking the time to reflect on what we give our 'Yes' to and ensuring that it aligns with our key values and principles," she stated was an important principle that she uses as a Mother.
In our Early Learning Centre (ELC), the little ones took great delight in sharing classroom activities and painted portraits of their beloved mothers, adding an extra touch of heartfelt sentiment to the day.
As a token of appreciation for all that they do, each mum was presented with a beautiful card lovingly handwritten by their child. But the surprises didn't end there! Thanks to the generous support of our Parents and Friends (P&F) association, our mums received additional treats, including a delightful candle from Lollipop and Lace, a mouthwatering free Gelatto from Gelatissmo, and a scrumptious Byron Bay cookie. These small gestures of gratitude served as a heartfelt thank you to our ever-supportive and cherished mums.
On behalf of King's College, we extend our thanks to the incredible community of women who continuously demonstrate boundless love and support for their children throughout the year. Your unwavering dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are immensely grateful for all that you do.
Here's to our amazing mums—today, tomorrow, and always! Enjoy the photos.
Active School Travel Tuesday's special event is taking place on Tuesday 21 May when Zero the Hero Cockatoo will be visiting the Primary Assemblies and sharing his knowledge on Bike Rulz to all primary students.
To follow on from National Road Safety Week last week, our focus in the primary school will be on 'Road Safety'. Road safety around schools is everyone’s responsibility. The key things to remember is STOP! LOOK! LISTEN! THINK! – remember every time you cross the road to stop, look, listen and think, before crossing a driveway, road or carpark, and to keep checking until you are safely across the road.
We would like to encourage parents to pleases role model using the crossings at drop off and pick up each day.
Congratulations to Class 4PC being the most active travellers for Week 4.
This fun video has very handy tips when walking or wheeling to school on a bicycle or scooter.
Remember, every Tuesday at King’s Pimpama is Active Travel 'Chooseday'.
The Prep to Year 2 Fun Run 2024 was a wonderful event full of colour, fun activities, and fabulous support from friends, family, and staff members. The students performed brilliantly as they ran, jumped, ducked, zig zagged and climbed over the various obstacles on the Fun Run course. The sack races and egg and spoon races were a delight to watch as the students put in big energy and maximum effort to do well for their house. There was awesome house spirit, teamwork, and encouragement throughout the whole event as well as smiles on faces.
Thank you to the Pimpama Sport Department for their support in setting up and running activities and for providing the sausage sizzle for the event. Thank you to all the staff involved for running, jumping, and encouraging the students on the day to do their best.
It was great to see so many Parents and families come came to support on the day and a big shout out to the parents and family members who volunteered to run the course at the end of the event.
As part of their Term 2 science unit "Mix it up," our Year 1 students recently had an exciting educational excursion to the Queensland Museum. The highlight of the visit was the engaging SparkLab exhibition, an interactive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) learning space designed to ignite curiosity and inspire young minds.
SparkLab offers a dynamic environment where students can immerse themselves in hands-on science experiments and design challenges throughout the day. This unique experience encourages students to harness their inner scientists as they question and explore the world around them.
During their visit, students had the opportunity to:
Play and Investigate: They explored their curiosity by interacting with various exhibits, using the same skills that real scientists, engineers, and mathematicians employ in their daily work.
Ask Questions: Students were encouraged to test their ideas and observe the outcomes, fostering a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
Design and Build: Using their imagination, they created and constructed projects, learning through doing.
Collaborate and Share: By sharing their thoughts and building on new ideas, students enhanced their learning experience through collaboration.
This excursion was a fantastic opportunity for our Year 1 students to engage with STEM in a fun and meaningful way, sparking their curiosity and laying the groundwork for future scientific exploration.
Year 4 students recently embarked on an egg-cellent adventure, testing their creativity and knowledge for our Egg Drop Challenge. With the task of safeguarding a delicate raw egg from a fall off the second story, students applied Newton’s Laws to create prototypes. The challenge, engaged students to further explore motion and force, applying Newton’s Laws of Motion—particularly the concepts of inertia, acceleration, and action-reaction, became very important concepts to understand so the students could protect their fragile cargo.
Some opted for parachutes to slow the descent, while others engineered intricate cushioning systems to absorb the impact. As students eagerly watched their prototypes hurtle from the second-story balcony. Cheers erupted as some ‘egg safety devices’ were successful, while others met a more unfortunate fate, leaving a puddle of gooey eggs to be found.
This project isn’t just about protecting an egg is about discovery, creativity and collaborating with our peers. Science is fun.
Adria from 4PC - It was lots of fun we spent a lot of time and care constructing our prototypes, and a lot of them worked. Most of the eggs survived.
Amos from 4PC - The egg drop was successful and great, but i was very sorry that some groups egg didn't make the fall.
Our Year 7 students had an incredible time on a beautiful 220-acre bushland site in Redland Bay from 28 April – 1 May 2024 (PGL Kindilan). This was indeed an opportunity to share time with the students in their ongoing emotional, social, and spiritual development. We were truly blessed to have had the opportunity to spend this focussed time with the students.
The students were involved in numerous activities as they were challenged in climbing, swinging, leaping and problem solving their way out of their comfort zones! A few of the activities included Canoeing, Raft Building, Archery, Flying Fox, Giant Swing, Leap of Faith, Quick Jump & Team Building Activities. The weather was great, and the students got to know each other better in a completely different environment.
Devotions with the Theme "Find Your Feet" received encouraging feedback and many students experienced growth in their faith. Ps Dylan and his team contributed greatly to all realising that with God's help, we are moving in the right direction and become motivated to achieve our goals. "I can do all this through Him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13.
We as a team we are grateful for the opportunity to play a role in the education of these Year 7 students.
The Gold Coast Careers Festival is one of the largest events of its kind in Queensland, drawing thousands of visitors each year, giving students access to a diverse collective of educators, career specialists, industry experts, guest speakers and employers through an informative, interactive and engaging experience.
On 2 May, Year 10 students attended the Study Gold Coast Careers Festival as part of their career research assessment in Set for Success. This excursion provided them with the opportunity for one-on-one consultations with career specialists, in a relaxed environment to gather information to assist them with their career decisions.
Exhibitors included potential employers, pathway providers such as TAFE and other private Training Organisations, universities, the Defence Force and Police, to name a few. The students also had the opportunity to break out and participate in various interactive activities to win prizes or develop skills.
Feedback from the students was that this was a positive experience where they gained useful information, along with their Morrisby Profile report, to further help them with the career decisions.
Recently, our Year 12 cohort (and several enthusiastic teachers) visited Dendy Theatres for a special screening of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, starring Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma. Students downed handfuls of popcorn—and other things that crinkled in the dark—while drinking from the fire hydrant of Shakespearean prose, with some complaining at the 15-minute intermission that they had “...no idea what was going on.”
It’s a very common occurrence when Shakespeare is first experienced. It is difficult. It even seems, at times, impenetrable. But just like a host of other things that are difficult at first, your efforts are eventually rewarded if you persevere.
What are students rewarded with in understanding Macbeth? Simply this: Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are deeply flawed human beings and their desires get the better of them. Ambition becomes ‘vaulting’ and guilt seems impossible to wash away. Shakespeare is worth studying for the beauty of the prose and for the incidental moral instruction that it gives attentive audiences.
Not surprisingly, Shakespeare also points to the spiritual problems and realities of life that can only be addressed, in the final analysis, by our Saviour, Jesus Christ who “...is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16-17).
Students will become more acquainted with the ‘Tyrant’ and his ‘fiend-like queen’ later this term as we pivot to external exam preparation.

On Friday 10 May, we sent two teams to compete at Logan Schools Cup Touch Football Tournament at Yarrabilba. The U15 girls team have been training every Tuesday and Thursday morning since week 1 this year. The U15 boys have been busy with their Rugby League training on Tuesday and Thursday mornings but managed to fit in a training session just before the tournament.
This competition involved local schools in the Yarrabilba to Pimpama region, meaning the competition was tough. This was our first Touch Football competition of the year and to have both teams finish in the top 4 is a great achievement.
Thank you to all the parents, friends and staff who came to support our students at the tournament. We are very proud of all our students who have committed to training and gave their best efforts. The above results are a testament to our students and their commitment to training.
Students in our Kings Pimpama Futsal program had the opportunity to play in their first tournament over week 4 and week 5 of Term 2. The students competed in the Gold Coast Regional titles against some quality opposition and did remarkably well across all age groups. This year the program has grown to add teams into the U14 Girls, Under 15 Boys and Under 19 Boys age groups along with a new Coach Mr Greaves from the Secondary School. All teams did tremendously well to showcase their individual skill and teamwork through some impressive passing sequences and high quality goals. Kings Pimpama entered 17 teams into the Titles and had 10 teams finishing top or second in their group to make it the Finals.
Some great results:
Under 12 Girls Gold Coast - Title Champions
Under 9 Boys Teal - Gold Coast Title Runners Up
Under 10 Girls - Gold Coast Title Runners Up
Under 15 Boys - Gold Coast Title Runners Up
Under 10 Boys Teal - Semi Finalist
Under 12 Girls White - Semi Finalist
Under 13 Girls - Semi Finalist
Under 11 Boys Teal - Quarter Finalist
Under 12 Boys - Quarter Finalist

A perfect day for distance running!
On Wednesday 1 May, King’s sent 59 students to compete in our Hinterland Cross Country event at The Southport School (TSS). The students had to run further than our school cross country track but had been training hard in the morning sessions run by our Coaches, Mr Coles and Cooper Miller. We had nine students place in the top seven and qualifying them for the regional trials, which will be held on Tuesday 21 May at Rivermount College.

Since term 1, our high school Netball girls have been working hard in preparation for the Vicki Wilson Netball Carnival. We brought two teams: one for juniors (Years 7-9) and one for seniors (Years 10-12). Despite tough competition, both teams kept their spirits high throughout the carnival.
The girls showed great competitiveness, even when scores didn’t go their way. The juniors ended with 2 wins and 2 losses, landing them in the middle of their division. The seniors finished lower in their division but stayed optimistic.
The Vicki Wilson Netball Carnival was a chance for our girls to show their skills and teamwork. They've shown grit and determination, and they're excited to keep growing as a team. The girls are eager to get back to training as they've learned a lot from this experience and are ready to improve for future competitions.
