View all 2024 Term Dates View Compass CalendarThank you to all of our families for another successful year of learning and fun together at King's! We really appreciate the involvement of our parents in the incredible learning journey we've shared at King's this year, as well as the time and support you have shown in our classrooms and at all of our school events. It was exciting to end the school year on such a high note with many special celebrations including our Award Presentation Nights, our Year 12 Graduation and Tunnel, Year 6 Graduation, our Noah's Ark Little Star's Story and Lion Crossing Ceremony, our Annual Sports Awards, and many exciting activities that took place in Term 4. We wish every family a happy, healthy and refreshing holiday break as we reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and celebrate the ultimate gift He gave us at Christmas.
The Year 12 Graduation Tunnel holds immense significance at King's, particularly for our graduating students as they take their final strides through the school as students. On the morning of Friday, November 17, our Class of 2023 commenced their nostalgic journey in the auditorium where Chaplain Mr Muir offered well wishes and a heartfelt prayer for their lives beyond King's. The tunnel tradition unfolded as they strolled through the campus, receiving cheers, high-fives and gifts from King's staff and fellow students. The bridge was lined with well-wishers from Kindy to Year 6 and resounded with joyous support for the departing graduates. After a morning tea with King’s Principals and teachers, the cohort returned along the bridge towards the front gates and this time they were cheered by high schoolers, parents, and friends. The tunnel is growing longer each year and symbolises an emotional peak in every Year 12 student's educational journey as they bid farewell to the campus. Congratulations to the Class of 2023 – you've made it! Your legacy in our College community will be fondly remembered and as you embark on new adventures, King's will continue to pray for God's richest blessings upon your lives.
King’s teaching team were very impressed with how our students approached the leadership application process this year, whether it be applying themselves or supporting their peers as they courageously presented in front of their entire cohort. Well done to all of our students who showed excellence by applying for leadership roles and demonstrating such positive attitudes throughout this process. We are really looking forward to working with our Student Leaders as they help lead our College over the coming year.
See our Year 8 Leaders See our Year 10 LeadersKing's Year 6 students traded their traditional Primary School uniforms for elegant evening attire on Thursday, 23 November, gathering in King's Table forecourt to commemorate their graduation. The balmy summer night set the scene for a radiant event, as guests arrived with excited expectation for the special occasion. Countless photos were taken by parent paparazzi and professional photographers before the official ceremony began. Our Campus Principal, Mr Meyers, and our Head of Primary, Mrs Payne, welcomed guests and then presented each student with a personalised bible and their graduation certificate. Families bid farewell as our Year 6 students strolled down the red carpet, passing through a guard of honour formed by their teachers and entering the auditorium to enjoy an elegant two-course dinner. The evening unfolded with a highlights video, a fun trivia quiz and spirited dancing.
The night encapsulated many emotions – the delight of cherished memories, the anticipation of starting High School, and the bittersweet sentiment of leaving behind their primary school experiences. The growth exhibited by our students throughout their time at King's has been remarkable, and we take immense pride in the exceptional young men and women they've become. We thank our dedicated staff and parents for the remarkable journey we've shared at King's so far, and the collective contributions that went into orchestrating a memorable graduation celebration for our Year 6 cohort. To our students: we express gratitude for your positive impact on our Primary School community and our prayers accompany you as you continue to flourish as High School students at King’s.
The King's Early Learning community experienced a heartwarming rendition of the Christmas story performed by our young talents from Noah's Ark in a charming show titled 'The Little Star's Story.' In the weeks leading up to the event, students and staff from all six early learning classes immersed themselves in learning songs, crafting imaginative costumes and rehearsing on the 'big' stage. This enchanting spectacle unfolded in Week 7 of Term 4, featuring two delightful performances by our youngest King's kids. As families filled the auditorium, our brave youngsters took centre stage, showcasing remarkable focus throughout the show. The timeless Nativity story came to life through a captivating blend of song and dance, with some very courageous Pre Prep students stepping into main character roles. Witnessing the joy and growing confidence of each child on stage was truly heartwarming, as they contributed to narrating the significant tale of the birth of our Lord Jesus. A special commendation goes to the Noah's Ark staff for orchestrating this exceptional event, creating a memorable showcase of talent and Christmas spirit.
King's Pre Prep students embarked on a significant journey on Monday, 20 November, as they participated in a heartwarming 'Lion Crossing' Ceremony. This symbolic event marked the transition of our youngest learners from Noah's Ark to the Prep Centre, signalling their impending start to Primary School in 2024. The ceremony was a poignant and celebratory moment as parents and Noah's Ark staff lined the walkway, creating a supportive and cheering crowd. With excitement and curiosity, the little King's kids ambled across the pathway towards the Prep Centre, symbolising their step into the next chapter of their educational journey. The 'Lion Crossing Ceremony' not only brought smiles to the faces of the young participants but also created a sense of community as everyone came together to celebrate this special milestone. It served as a touching reminder of the growth and progress these Pre Prep students have made, setting the stage for their future learning adventures in King's primary school.
For over two decades, King's annual Sports Awards have recognised students and teams who have shown excellence in sport throughout the year. Our College and Sports Department continually work to champion our students in various sporting pursuits and our 21st Annual Sports Awards was another exciting celebration of their collective success. This year, we saw nearly 300 students selected at the regional level in the school sport pathway. Of which 139 continued on to a State level and 40 made it to the national level. We saw 14 students selected for the Australian team or medal at a national meet. On Tuesday, 14 November, proud parents and family members filled the auditorium to show their support as our 2023 outstanding athletes crossed the stage to receive their accolades. The audience was also entertained throughout the evening with exciting highlight videos and a lively Kahoot Quiz. Thank you students, families and King's Sport for another amazing year of sport! Congratulations to all of our worthy recipients:
The Rhonda Bevan Most Outstanding Sporting Achievement award was shared for the first time in 2023 and was presented to Amahli Hala and Ava Wereta for their international rugby 7s achievements. YEAR 12 - FAREWELL TO THE YEAR OF CONFIDENCE
This term marked significant academic achievements for our High School, particularly for our Year 12 students - the 'Year of Confidence'. Just two weeks ago, they concluded their final exams and have since embarked on well-deserved holiday celebrations. We honoured this exceptional year group with their formal Graduation Ceremony and their less formal Year 12 Tunnel send-off. We are so excited to see their results when they are released in December. We extend our gratitude to the Year 12 cohort for exemplifying our school values and serving as outstanding role models, especially in their approach to academic studies. Best wishes for their future endeavours, and they remain in our thoughts and prayers. We will keep families updated about our Year 12 results when they are released in December. We know they will be eagerly awaiting their scores, as are we!

Excitement and innovation were prevalent as our Year 11 and 12 engineering students explored Griffith University's Engineering Faculty at the Gold Coast campus. The interactive excursion was the perfect chance for our budding engineers to delve into industrial design and engineering. The day began with a warm welcome from Griffith staff, before students delve enthusiastically into hands-on workshops, from prototyping to problem-solving. The ADAPT Centre stole the spotlight, bridging the gap between theory and application and exposing students to cutting-edge technology and research tools. Witnessing projects at the forefront of innovation fuelled their aspirations within the limitless world of engineering.
Griffith University staff brimmed with passion as they shared their expertise and gave our students a newfound appreciation for the dynamic engineering landscape. Our heartfelt thanks to Griffith University for this enriching experience which we know will be pivotal in shaping their futures filled with innovation, creativity, and boundless possibilities!

During Week 7 of Term 4, our Year 6 students hosted an ‘Energy Expo’ within their classrooms, showcasing the results of their Project Based Learning endeavours. At the beginning of the term, each student selected a form of energy for in-depth study from a diverse range of choices including coal and fossil fuels to wind farms and solar power. They collaborated in small groups, conducted research and delved into various aspects of their chosen energy source, evaluating its benefits and long-term sustainability. They presented their findings in interactive and creative ways for the Energy Exhibition and were excited to host their younger school peers, King’s teachers and their parents and share their new-found knowledge.
The overarching goal of this real-world assignment was to inspire our young learners to contribute to a better world by gaining an understanding for the diverse impacts of different energy types on our planet. The Year 6 students demonstrated exceptional research skills and adeptly presented their findings. Congratulations Year 6 students for finishing your Primary School learning journey with such diligence and success!
Each year, Mrs Karen Andrews MP runs a Christmas Card design competition that is open to Year 3 - 6 students from across the southern Gold Coast region. Mrs Andrews MP uses the winning design for her Christmas card that she sends out to members of her constituency that year. Mrs Andrews MP enjoyed reviewing all of the 2023 entries this year and informed King's that two of our amazing young artists received awards this year. Emerson Evans (Year 5) was awarded a Highly Commended award, while Alana Lim (also in Year 5) won the 'Overall Year 5 Winner' award - Congratulations Alana! Mrs Andrews MP attended the final Year 5 assembly this year to present Alana with her award and hamper of art supplies.
Our Parent Ambassador Program (previously called Class Coordinators) has been running for a number of years. The program aims to help build stronger connections among our King's families by having a parent contact in every classroom. We sincerely appreciate these incredible volunteers who gave their time and energy this year to help foster friendship and support at King's.
We hosted a special event to thank our amazing group of parents who served our community in 2023 as Parent Ambassadors. Mrs Payne, Head of Primary, and our Year Level Coordinators hosted afternoon tea, and Mrs Wendijk, our Lead Primary Art Teacher ran a jewellery-making activity for the group. On behalf of our College and all primary parents, we thank you for your valuable contribution to our community this year!

Terms 1-3 were incredibly successful and in the Hinterland School Championships, King’s students took home all awards from First Place through to Seventh Place! Primary King’s Team 1 ended on a near-perfect score, with Primary King’s Team 2 not far behind. Rentaro Inukai, Joshua Ong, Siannah Cooke and Kevin Zhou were crowned the top Primary team on the Gold Coast. The High School team also performed exceptionally well and took out the top four places in the Term 2 Secondary tournament. Congratulations to Bryan Yang and Edwin Choi who ended with perfect scores. We are so proud of your efforts and more importantly, the obvious sportsmanship you displayed through every single game.
Queensland State Chess Finals saw King’s qualifying 16 students, more than any other school in the State. The Secondary A team (composed of Micah Young, Bryan Yang, Edwin Choi, and Luka Hart) led the event for the majority of the tournament after defeating the top seeds, Anglican Church Grammar School, however, fell just short of First Place at the final hurdle. Overall, King's team finished in 3rd place and Edwin Choi received a First medal for his perfect 6/6 score on board three. Bryan Yang also scored a key draw with a Candidate Master. A clear sign of King’s strength on the State stage, the King’s B team (Cooper Whitaker, Kotaro Inukai, Woo Joon Ki, and William Cameron) finished 12th, ahead of many top chess schools.
In Term 4, King’s has made history by winning 10 out of the 12 Gold Coast Individual Age divisions. Over 800 students competed across all the schools on the Gold Coast. Congratulations to these incredible students:
Congratulations to ALL of our 246 King’s students who represented our College this year!
