Farewelling King's Icon Ps Guy
Today we bid an emotional farewell to a King’s icon – a remarkable man of God who has shaped the spiritual heart of our College during his 25 years of service as a Lead Chaplain. Ps Guy Ormerod retired from King's on Friday, 1 April, and leaves an eternal legacy. Over a quarter of a century, Ps Guy championed our Mission Trip program and Hillsong Conference trips, transformed our school camp devotions and helped our school flourish from its small beginnings. During our farewell service, Campus Principal, Mr Meyers, reflected on Ps Guy and the way he carries the heart of God in all he does. "His gift of evangelism has seen him continuously outwork The Great Commission and lead many young people into a relationship with Jesus. He embodies Jesus' greatest commandment – 'to love the Lord your God with all your heart… and to love others as yourself' (Matthew 22:37)." With his sacrificial service and genuine love for King’s staff and students, Ps Guy will always be embedded in the foundational fabric of King's. The extended celebrations for our much-loved Chaplain culminated on Friday with a number of tearful ‘send-offs.’ These included a staff breakfast and farewell service, morning tea and an honorary tunnel, where our primary and high school students and staff lined the bridge and showered Ps Guy in hugs, high-fives, posters, cheers, a Haka, and a memorable farewell fitting for a staff member and friend we will never forget.
